Acquire, Analyze, and Evaluate Information

Identify task requirements, apply search strategies, and use current technology to efficiently acquire, analyze, and evaluate a variety of electronic information.

Reflection:  Evaluating electronic information covers such a broad area of technology these days.  We have to constantly evaluate and re-evaluate the way electronic information is being used by technology because it changes so fast.  What is learned today, in a year might be old news.  We have to constantly have an ear out to learn what is coming out into the real world.  This information that I have offered here might be behind the times in another couple of years, who knows?  We will constantly have to acquire, analyze and evaluate information using technology at hand, or we will be left behind.

Title: Digitally Capturing Images Using a Camera and a Scanner

Course: Digital Graphics/Animation 101

Date Created: 10/15/02

Source: Individual Project

Media: Web Page

Description:  Using my own experience, I presented my findings on how to capture images from two methods, give an example, give a 'How to' description, advantages and disadvantages of each method, gave representative graphic examples, two or more researched url links, and summarized the topic.

Rationale:  I used my own graphics taken by me for our annual staff and athletic departments.  I researched and wrote down what I had learned from my digital photo taking and conversions to web pages and desktop publishing.  It was enjoyable for me to put what I had learned down in writing and be able to publish a web document that could be used by teachers to better help them understand digital image integrity.  I learned this the hard way.  Hopefully through this web page, the teachers will not have to go through the painstaking problems that I had to when I was learning.

Implications for future:  While I was learning about Digital Image Integrity, I made a lot of mistakes.  In the future, I will be able to hand down this knowledge and let the students and teachers know how to understand and  to be able to manipulate Digital images without making all the mistakes that I made.  With digital cameras and camcorders coming down in price, more and more students and teachers will need to learn how to handle this important factor in their everyday lives at home and at school.

Reviewer's Comments:  James your page looks great!  You are always very professional.  Your pictures look great and your information is in target.  Thanks for sharing.
