Informed Decision Making

Use technology-related terms, concepts, data input strategies, and ethical practices to make informed decisions about current technologies and their applications.

Reflection:  Making decisions about what kind of Technology software to buy will be a tough job for all school districts to make.  Being informed about what is being used in the real world and what the students will need to learn to make them better students in college or in the workplace will certainly be a challenge.  I have a better understanding now of what the students need to know and learn because of what I have learned in the TATC certification online courses.

Title: Acquiring of Graphic/Animation Software

Course: Digital Graphics/Animation 101

Date Created: 10/13/02

Media: Adobe Acrobat .pdf file

Description:  This was an assignment to use our own experience to provide two factors that should be looked at when making decisions regarding the selection, acquisition, and use of graphics and animation software.

Rationale:  This assignment helped me write out my thoughts about making decisions regarding the selection, acquisition, and use of graphics and animation software or any technology applications software.  Being the Director of Technology for the Water Valley Independent School District puts me in a better light as to what kind of software should be used and learned by the students.

Implications for future: The factors used in my assignment are what I think most school districts think about when they go to make decisions about acquiring software applications for technology.  I think in the future, the same factors will apply unless the State of Texas makes some changes as to how schools acquire software applications.

Reviewer's Comments:  'What is being used out there in the REAL World?'  I almost stated the exact same thing in my review!  I had several students who graduated last May and decided to pursue further education in Web Design and/or digital animation.  It helped them tremendously in their college interviews to have some background in Flash animation.
