Observation Experience

I was really blessed to observe a Professional Instructor in a classroom filled with adult students really wanting to learn video technology using the software called 'MGI Videowave'.  Traci Evans at Region XV Education Service Center was the instructor and I learned a lot from the way she handled the class from the very start.  Traci has a way about her that is not intimidating like some instructors are.  She is willing to stop, right in the middle of class, to help someone who is not caught up to where the rest of the group is.  She didn't get upset if the faster learners got ahead and then asked questions, she just said that if they would wait just a little bit, she would get to that part of the lesson.  Whenever Traci was up against a problem she couldn't figure out, she left it and went on with the class, then on her break, she would try to figure out the problem.  Then she would share it with the class when we got back from our break.

I learned how to handle students from how Traci handled students in a computer, software atmosphere.  I have learned that the students can teach the teacher new tricks also, you just have to be open minded and patient enough to be able to absorb what the students are trying to tell you.  I have also learned that no matter how much the teacher gets up in front of the students and goes over the lesson on her computer, it does no good until the student has to do it themselves and learn from their own mouse and key strokes.
