| Description: This is a screen shot of the Water Valley Web site that was done by James Ditmore. Analysis: The school mascot is "Wildcats", which explains why the two wildcat pictures are present. Wildcats have paws which are depicted in the background and the Main Paw in the middle to draw attention to the where the main areas of the Web site are. The home page is mainly symmetrical with exception of some text and graphics on the lower part of the page. Interpretation: The web site was influenced by the name of the school and its mascot. Also, the home page was made to instill pride and accomplishment of both students, teachers, administration and the community. Judgement: The home page takes a while to load because of the graphics, but all in all worth the wait and the Wildcat's Roar! |

| Video Technology | |
| Description: The Six Man Video's Page came from the Water Valley ISD Web site. It was created by James Ditmore. Analysis: The use of a picture of the young men scrimmaging playing 6 man football makes a person curious as to what the videos show. The rule of thirds is seen in the use of the Text in the upper third of the picture, also using the sky to help project the text away from the action on the field. Interpretation: The creator was trying to convey reality in the picture as to what the videos will show and instructions on how to play the video on a computer Judgement: The background could have had more young men playing 6 man football and it would have been more realistic of football if they had of had helmets and pads on instead of shorts and tee shirts.

| Digital Graphics | |
| Description: The Web Site to the right is done by Digital Graphics Studio. Their Web Site http://www.2dgs.com/ shows various examples of Digital Graphic design that they offer. Questions are to be sent to Questions@2dgs.com; Information request are to be sent to Info@2dgs.com and a phone number of (360) 491-1149 was given on their contact us page. They specialize in various digital graphics given on their home page. Analysis: This example was created for the Department of Energy - Geothermal Education Office. All images shown here are still renderings from animations created for an educational video on alternative energy sources. The globe above was used to illustrate The Ring of Fire. In the animated sequence the globe spins around and small burning triangles appear representing the hot spots in The Ring of Fire. The unique feature of the Earth Globe being like tranparent glass with the land formations , longitude and latitude only showing make it easy to look at and imagine how the simulations would look. The lighting and composition of the globe help make it look like it is hanging in space. Interpretation: The artist seemed to be influenced by the fact the this was to be done for the Department of Energy - Geothermal Education Office. Also, the artist seemed to want to convey an earth in space that is easy to look at and be able to graphically show the earth spinning with a 3D effect. Judgement: The artist that designed this graphic did a very good job with space and depth to create visual unity to create the desired effect that was needed for the client.

| Description: The Wild Cat with eyes that blink is an animation of unknown origins. Analysis: The point of interest is looking at you! This animation looks like any other graphic until it blinks. That is what catches your attention. Eyes lurking in the dark makes me scared, weary and the dominance portayed within the animation is awesome. Interpretation: The artist of this animation must of loved big cats and the domineering, stare of their eyes. Judgement: The animation causes the observer to be caught off guard for a moment and then to beware. I think the artist did an excellent job with this graphic.

The cover was designed by the art and design department of Smart Computing made up of, Lesa Scarborough, Fred Schneider, Ginger Riley, Carrie Benes, Stacy Peters, Dave Fiala, Lori Garris, Jason Codr, Andria Schultz, Erin Smith, Ned Day and Lindsay Anker. Sandhills Publishing is the name of the company Publishing this Magazine. Analysis: The elements and principles of design are brought out professionally in this cover page. The Graphics are meant to show the inner workings of a computer, namely Software Utilities. The Gears working together shows a concept of working together for a purpose just like Utilities do in a computer. Interpretation: The artists seemed to be influenced by wanting to show the readers the similiarity betweeen the graphics and Utilities for their computer. Judgement: The designers did a great job of bringing your focus in on the Gears while showing the 27 Ultimate Utilities text in the middle of the gears graphics.

| Description: This is the first slide of a PowerPoint presentation by Nancy Wallace, a first grade teacher at Water Valley Elementary School. It was created August 15, 2002 by one of her first graders in her class. Analysis: The rules of visual composition such as the Golden section/rectangle is accomplished well in this drawing. The community in the top third of the drawing with the rainbow making up the lower two thirds. The pattern of a rainbow holding up a community creates visual unity and oneness. The sound that accompanies the presentation is appropriate for the first grade viewers. Interpretation: The slide presentation is influenced by the teacher trying to present Colors to her first grade class. Judgement: The repition of Color being consistent with the graphics is focused on by the teacher very well. She did a great job putting the powerpoint presentation together.
