How to add mpeg or mpg Movie Video Files to your webpage

MPG stands for Moving Picture Experts Group, which develops standards for coding audio-video information in digital compressed format. MPG files are much smaller than other video & audio coding formats for the same quality because of the very sophisticated compression technique used by MPEG.
MPG video files have the extension .mpg . MPEG audio files have the extension
.mp2 or .mp3  If you wish to use a particularly large MPEG video file, your personal computer should  have sufficient speed, internal memory & hard disc space.

Step #1: Using Microsoft Frontpage 2002, make a web page by going to File, New, Page or Web and open a new blank page.

Step #2: Copy and paste the .mpg file you are going to use into the directory of your web page.

Step #3: There are two ways to put an .mpg video onto your web page.  You can embed it onto your page, or you can hyperlink it to play the video.

Step #4: To hyperlink the .mpg onto your web page, type the name of the video and type click here to help the viewers know what to do to view the .mpg.  Then highlight the text to be hyperlinked, then right click and choose hyperlink.  Choose the .mpg file in your web page directory where you pasted it to, then click ok.  Be sure to save before you preview or it will not work.  Here is an example: Click here for Example of .mpg video

Step #5: To Embed the .mpg onto your web page. Position on your web page where you want to Embed the .mpg and copy and paste the .mpg file.  Keep in mind that this takes a while to load when the viewers open the web page and it is not a good idea to Embed a .mpg video unless you really want to do it.  An example is not given here for that reason.

Step #6: The next item you will want to add is how to view your .mpg video.  The three most popular Video players are 1.) Apple's Quicktime, 2.) Real Player, and 3.) Media Player.
