Logo and Billboard for Heart of Texas Teachers
Summary
I used MicrosoftPaint to make my logo and billboard. I tried to
make it in Photoshop 7.0 and learned alot but not enough to get color into
a shape layer! I also did not like the look of a premade heart that I got
from the shapes in Photoshop. I like the look of a more homespun heart that
I ended up with in Paint. My logo is the heart divided into thirds (Elements
and Principles of Design!) like the Texas flag and colored like the Texas flag.
The billboard has the heart logo prominently displayed on the left third, the
upper right is the name Heart of Texas Teachers in Goudy Stout with the red and
blue of the flag. The lower right third of the billboard contains the message
and our initials HOTT in the phone number. I feel that balance was achieved with
the heavy heart on one side and the abundance of text on the right. Not too much
text though, you want people to be able to read it all as they drive by! Unity was
achieved using the Texas flag colors and "thirds" theme throughout. I used sky blue
as my webpage background to give the effect of looking at the billboard in the sky.
I think this initial project could be carried out through the semester using the logo
for other projects as the students "master" more programs.
