Shooting
Videographer is a video photographer. Shooting video is a picture-taking process of capturing sights and sounds.
Key steps to shooting video are:
§       Follow a storyboard. Keep your story in mind, and have a purpose for each shot.
§       Hold the camera in your right hand and look into the viewfinder with your right eye.
§       Don't try to hold the camera perfectly still. Hold it effortlessly. Use a tripod when necessary for stationary action. Some camcorders have a stabilization feature that compensates for camera-shake.
§       Stand with your feet spread apart a foot.
§       Don't bury your head in the viewfinder like an ostrich buries its head in the sand.
§       Look, Look, Look all around.
§ Change the camera angle or distance from the subject, or change both angle and distance for each shot.
§       Frame each shot carefully and allow headroom.
§       Don't let your surroundings confuse or distract you.
§       Try to select the right side of the room or shooting location so you can blink your left eye open to look for reactions.
§       Be careful of your light source. The light must be behind you.
§ Avoid shooting into a bright light, whether it is sunlight outside, lamplight inside, or light streaming in through a window.
§ Make sure your subject is well lit.
§ Put the main light source behind and to one side of you, so it lights the subject without throwing your shadow into the picture.
§       Let the action guide you.
§       Get in the way of the action.
§ Use a variety of brief shots to document a lengthy action.
§       Always have a lead in. Forward the tape 5 or 6 seconds and then begin.
§   Shoot an extra 3 or 4 seconds at the beginning and end of each shot.
§       Signed media releases are required for everyone video taped.
