Lisa Stultz: Hello!
Sonya Lanham: Hi! Hows it going?
Lisa Stultz: Okay. I had a tough day yesterday, but I'm getting over it.
Sonya Lanham: When is your spring break?
Lisa Stultz: Next week. When is yours?
Sonya Lanham: Next week also. Maybe you can recover then.
Lisa Stultz: I'm looking forward to it.
Sonya Lanham: Have you met with your teacher?
Lisa Stultz: Yes. You?
Sonya Lanham: Just a few minutes. I going to be doing staff training this summer. We have to take 12 hours during the summer to get off Monday and Tuesday before Thanksgiving.
Sonya Lanham: She is going to help me with it.
Lisa Stultz: Oh, that sounds good.
Sonya Lanham: We haven
Sonya Lanham: It will probably be very basic in Word or Excel. I have done a survey to see where most of the teachers are technology wise. I think most of them actually check off they know more than what I think they do.
Lisa Stultz: I think they do that too. Except for the negative Nellies. They can't do anything.
Sonya Lanham: I think the ones that feel they know everything and there is not anything else they need to learn are just as bad, if not worse.
Lisa Stultz: Yes I do agree with you. I just had to work 7 hours with a negative person yesterday so that is fresh in my mind. Did you get the email about what my next lesson is about?
Sonya Lanham: Yes but refresh my memory.
Lisa Stultz: Okay. I am working with our Math Specialist on creating a lesson for 5th Grade Math. The students are having trouble with rotation, reflection and translation. The lesson is making Quilt squares and then transform them using rotati
Lisa Stultz: on, reflection and translation to create a small paper quilt.
Sonya Lanham: Sounds fun
Sonya Lanham: What technology will they be using?
Lisa Stultz: I think it will be a lot of fun! We are trying to figure out if there is a way to create the design on the computer. We want all of their squares to be the same size. We talked about using the document camera to demonstrate the act
Lisa Stultz: ivity. Also, at the end of the lesson students will be creating a PowerPoint presentation, Clay Animation or Video Demonstration to show their knowledge of the difference between the three.
Sonya Lanham: What software are you considering using?
Lisa Stultz: For which part? The Video Demonstration would be done in iMovie. Clay Animation is by Tech4Learning.
Sonya Lanham: For creating the design.
Lisa Stultz: Well....... I would think Word because we have the use of rulers. in Kidpix they would be all different sizes.
Lisa Stultz: Do you have any other suggestions?
Sonya Lanham: Sounds good to me.
Lisa Stultz: Great! Any other questions?
Sonya Lanham: It sounds like it will be a fun and interesting lesson. How long do you think it will last?
Lisa Stultz: 6 to 7 - 45 minute sessions.
Sonya Lanham: Do you have any more questions for me?
Lisa Stultz: Let me think just a minute.
Lisa Stultz: Okay. So your lesson is for teachers as students. And the lesson is on Word or Excel?
Sonya Lanham: Yes. I was excited when I learned we could use adult lessons because of the staff training this summer. I am not really sure how this is going to work with another teacher. I will be the one teaching the class and Connie
Sonya Lanham: said it doesn't matter who will be teaching the lesson. I guess I will just have her help me develop the lesson.
Sonya Lanham: What do you think?
Lisa Stultz: I think that sounds really good. You will be able to create something useful. Will you be helping them with ideas for using them as integration tools as well as how to use the programs?
Sonya Lanham: I hope to do both. It will be two full days of training.
Lisa Stultz: That sounds really good to me. I think we are ready.
Sonya Lanham: So do I.
Lisa Stultz: Great! I can't wait to see your lesson. Have a great day!
Sonya Lanham: You too
Lisa Stultz: Thank you. I will!
