 Explicit teaching: Model information gathering and decision process as a whole group lesson. Facilitate independent work

 Using help sheets, students will replicate teacher actions to begin online assignment. Student will take notes and record sources per copyright compliance.

 Present personal “Map of Success” to the class as a culminating reflective activity. Explain personal career goals, inherent challenges and long-term rewards of reaching the goal.

Create a ‘Map of Success’ in MS Publisher that includes a career path in a game board format. The map will show the major steps and challenges to reach the goal and possible outcomes. Communicate using graphics, color, and text to enhance the factual information.

Mentor will communicate an understanding of the mentee’s goals. Mentor will provide help pages to guide effective documentation of lesson sequence and materials for mentee use as needed.

Mentor will walk mentee through the software demonstration and guided modeling students will perform during the lesson.

Mentee will actively participate in the lesson, taking notes and asking questions as necessary. Mentee will clarify meaning as needed.

Mentor will adjust as necessary to allow for growth and focus in the mentoring process.

Aspect 2: The Social System

Describe the interpersonal structure of the instructional experience.

Students will actively listen and cooperate in whole group discussions and modeling. Peer group members will be respectful and employ etiquette when assisting peers during group work and in technology lesson.

Describe your general instructional role. For example, will you present material, guide students as they research, etc?

As mentor, I will be present during the first presentation of this lesson taking notes and recording data per mentee’s request. I will also be ready to problem-solve and trouble shoot technology and classroom management problems as they arise to enable the classroom teacher to present the information and focus on her new skills integrating technology as she interacts with the students.
