Hi Jeremy, We are coaching partners for this
second session. It is new to me, so if you have
a plan I'm good with that, I'm sure. What format
is best for you? I don't care what we use!

I prefer email, but if you'd rather use
something else, I'm ok with that as well. I'm
not sure exactly what we are supposed to
accomplish in our preconference so I think we
will just wing it. Who is your mentee this
round?

Who is your mentee this round? I was winging
that one, too! I will be working with a middle
school band director slash add in a class of 5th
graders in an elective rotational setting. She
wants to explore careers and money with them.
and you?

The band director/counselor turned 5th grade
teacher that I am working with is Margie. The
integrated lesson she would like to design will
be 3-5 days in the computer lab. She wants the
kids to explore a possible career option, learn
about training requirements, and begin to set a
few goals. She knows they are young for this
exercise, but feels the exposure is important.
She discussed that the boys want to be athletes
and the girls want to be famous--so she would
like the kids to begin to look around them at
what their family members do for a living,
decide where they may want to live
(city/country) and she even suggests they think
about if they want kids and how many kids they
want to raise. I think she is trying to get
their feet firmly on the ground before the
hormones start.... :) On a final note, she found
a website that explores what it costs to raise a
child, so that is part of their study. What is
your scenario?

Re: preconference To: Sandy Allison
First, thank you for being the perfect partner!
My scenario is: I am working with a 7th grade
6th year math teacher in Mansfield, she is also
a Student Council sponsor. She can be a bit ADD
as can I so it makes for interesting
conversation. She wants to do a lab as well.
We haven't narrowed down the subject yet, but we
will be meeting again today. Her main concern
is behavior, I don't feel this is the biggest
issue but we will work with it. Working math
into a computer lab effectively has always been
a struggle so I am hoping we can come up with
something that works really well. Have fun with
Dreamweaver. As for tips, I might be able to
offer some, I'll see what I can come up with. I
have some sites that might be helpful for those
students are color challenged. I'll send those
to you. I am transitioning from GoLive to
Dreamweaver right now. Seeing as Adobe dropped
GoLive for Dreamweaver I don't have much
choice. I don't have any Dreamweaver tips yet
but I'll develop some. I have to admit, I'm
jealous. I hope you have a great time and I may
be the one asking for tips.

Change of scenario: I will be doing the
inservice style "teaching" on teacher website
design. I will mentor someone from my high
school through the process of Effective Teacher
Website Design.

Sandy
replies: I will add this to our notes. I wish
you would mentor me on "effective" teacher
website design. Key word: effective. You are
certainly an asset to your school --and a great
coaching buddy.
