Social System

Student will review information regarding numbers(properties) and will then form into groups(based on strengths and weaknesses) to discuss interactions and create rules based on perceptions.  The rules will be written on colored paper and turned in after being cut into strips.  Students will then continue to take notes on newly developed rules.

Role of the Instructor

The instructor will review numbers and discuss(review) the number line.  The instructor will then lead a discussion regarding the numbers themselves but not interactions.  She will then discuss interactions showing several examples.  During the group work she will monitor group discussions and re-diret as necessary.  She will then collect all developed rules and lead a discussion using manipulatives and student developed rules.
