| Instructional and Learning Stratigies | ||||||
| Learning Goals | Instructional Strategies | Instructor Actions | Student Actions | |||
| Aspect 1: Syntax | ||||||
| Student Goals | ||||||
| Understand and Analyze the elements of good design | Direct Instruction, Group Discussion | Direct Teaching: Control discussion and provide slides/notes. | Following along on handout, make notes as necessary. Discuss with peers. | |||
| Discover what makes a website effective | Collaboration, Group Discussion, Questioning | Lead discussion on effective design, use concrete examples but allow the students to deduce the reasoning. | Discuss with peers and instructor, provide feedback when necessary, take notes as needed. | |||
| Create an effective and attractive teacher website | Direct Instruction, Guided Practive, Reflection | Direct Teaching on use of tools, individual help as needed, direct in peer help, provide example for follow along. Remind to reflect. | Follow along, complete lesson, provide help to peers when needed, reflect on work based on previous knowledge. | |||
| Mentor Goals | ||||||
| Develop the skills necessary to help implement a staff development for technology | Research, Instructional Design, Planning, Collaboration | Coach mentee as needed in the design of the lesson and where it needs to go. | ||||
| Refine coaching techniques through proper questioning and relationship building | Collaboration, Discussion, Reflection | Provided questions so as not to lead the mentee but allow the mentee to expand the possibilites and effectiveness of the lesson. | ||||
| Mentee/Teacher Goals | ||||||
| Explain clearly and accurately the elements of good design | Planning, Collaboration, Direct Instruction, Research | Organize the design principles and present them in an easy to understand fashion…ppt, etc. | ||||
| Create and implement instruction on effective web design | Planning, Collaboration, Direct Instruction, Research | Create an entertaining lesson to capture the imagination of the "students". Locate and prepare examples, both good and bad. | ||||
| Keep the learners engaged and excited about incorporating technology | Collaboration, Group Discussion, Questioning, Reflection | Have fun. Remind the group that this is not the limit. The possibilities are endless. Relax. | ||||
| Aspect 2: The Social System | ||||||
| The instructor is the leader of the class. The "students" will listen and take notes during instruction acting responsibly. After direct instruction the students will be working in large peer groups with teacher interaction as needed. Any special needs are to be met by the instructor. The instructor will also be responsible for directing group discussions and for noting peers who can provide assistance to others. | ||||||
| Aspect 3: The Role of the Instructor | ||||||
| The instructor is the leader as well as a coach. The instructor will dictate the speed of the lesson as well as handle any …ahem..behavior..issues.. The instructor will also present the information using appropriate technology and should do his/her best to make it entertaining. The instructor will also be responsible for assigning peers who can provide assistance. | ||||||
| Aspect 4: The Support System | ||||||
| Instructional Material | Technical Requirements | Human Resources | ||||
| Whiteboard, Laser pointer, Handouts | Hardware | LAN Tech, Apple Tech | ||||
| Computer Lab (Apple), Projector, Remote | ||||||
| Software | ||||||
| Adobe Creative Suite, Frontpage, Keynote(Powerpoint), Safari, Mousepose, Remote desktop | ||||||
