Use the Internet to research and tell about a Planet in our Solar System Demonstration

Demonstration steps include:

  • Open Internet Explorer
  • Show resources to look at for the project
Learner will practice the demonstration steps with the instructor.
Active Learning

Explain expectations of research project.

 

Use keyword searches to obtain information relevant to assigned research topic. Students will print information and use it in creating the presentation.

Explain purpose Fact Sheet

Materials include: Use of Inspiration to create the fact sheet. The teacher will model and show what a good fact sheet looks like.

Create a one page fact sheet about the planet that you have selected with the picture of the planet in the middle.
Organize and prepare the information for presentation, use research techniques. Work in small groups, Special needs students will have equal access being partnered with a student in the class. Discussion Explain copyright law and procedure for obeying copyright law as it pertains to this lesson. Students participate by reflecting on occasions their work has been copied.
Demonstration Display samples of projects that exhibit unity and those that do not. Students participate by analyzing examples for unity.

  • Open PowerPoint
  • Select Design Template
  • Select Slide Layout
  • Number of slides for project 5
  • Enter Text on slides
  • Insert New Slide
  • Insert Image from file
  • Preview Slideshow
  • Save file

Materials include:
Multimedia computer with projection device, PowerPoint, hard-copy instructions.

Students will practice the demonstration steps with the instructor.

Each students will create a 5 slide PowerPoint presentation about one of the planets in our solar system.

What are your instructional objectives for the unit?

How will you determine if students have mastered your objectives?

What will you look for in the student PowerPoint?

Learner participates by reflecting on the objective of instructional unit.

Students Evaluate Product and presentation techniques for the final project.

Independent production

Product requirements:

  • PowerPoint instructions
  • Inspiration instructions
  • Rubric instructions

Materials include:
Computer with Internet access, PowerPoint, printer, Inspiration

The learners will self check themselves using the rubric to check for mastery of the assignment, then the teacher will score each student. 

 

Aspect 2: The social system

Describe the interpersonal structure of the instructional experience.

Learning will be student centered, with the students working independently. Instruction will vary on the ability of the students. The teacher will serve as a guide and resource working with the students if guidance is needed.
Aspect 3: The role of the instructor

Describe your general instructional role.

I will be supporting the teacher to guide and provide information relating to conducting searches on the Internet. If the teacher needs me to help in the lab with the Inspiration fact sheet I will be available. Finally to help show the students how to organize the data into PowerPoint for presentation. 
Aspect 4: The support system

Describe the types and amount of instructional, technical, and other resource support required for the instruction (e.g., instructional materials, communication capabilities).

For support, They will need a working computer with PowerPoint, Internet access, a projection device and Inspiration software.
