Creating a slideshow using Real Slideshow 2.0.

 

1) First thing you need to do is double click on the Real Slideshow icon to start the program.

 

 

Adding Graphics

2.) One you have the program running, you are going to want to add the images to the program. You will need to have your floppy disk in you computer to access the pictures or have it saved onto the computers hard drive. One this is done, move your mouse so that the pointer click on the file so that he menu will drop down. Select “Add images”.

 

3.) By choosing “Add Images”, A new menu will open. From this new menu you want to look for your file. One you have located your file select it with your mouse so that it is highlighted. Then click on “Open”. ***(If you are unable to find your file ask help from your classmates or from your teacher.)***

 

4.) The picture will automatically be added to the slideshows timeline. 

 

5.) Continue this process over and over again until you have finished. Below is an example of what your slideshow may look like after you have entered all the pictures.

 

6.) You may also want to add title slides. ***(Real Slideshow can use gif and jpg formats for its slideshow)*** You may want to show students how to create gif pictures using Microsoft Paint or Macromedia Fireworks. After you have entered all your pictures your slideshow may look like the picture shown below.

 

 

Adding Transitions

7.) Once you have entered all the title slides, select the first picture and double click on it with your mouse.

 

8.) A menu will open up.

 

9.) Move your mouse over to the “Transition” tab and click on it.

 

10) Place you mouse over the Transition “Type” and select the type of effect you desire. You may do this with each image by double clicking over each picture on the timeline or by clicking on the “Next Image>>” button. ***(If you only apply one transition to the first slide, that same effect will be used throughout the slideshow.)***

 

11.) You may also choose to delay the transition effect by changing the transition time by selecting “Duration” and change the transition effect to the amount of time you desire.

 

Adding Dialog

***(At this time make sure your microphone and speakers are working properly)***

***(At this time you should have created the dialog for all your pictures on this slideshow)***

12.) Go back to the beginning of the timeline and select the first slide. Double click on it. 

 

13.) Select the “Text and Audio Captions” tab. To begin recording, just click on the “Start Recording” button. When the timer starts, you should begin the dialog for your slideshow.

 

14.) To finish your dialog, click on the “Stop Recording” button.

 

15.) At the end of each recording it will prompt you with a window asking if you to save the audio file. Click “OK”, and select a location for each file. ***(If you have a problem ask your classmates or your teacher for assistance.)***

 

16.) Type in a file name for each slide. ***(for example: my first picture I use the “file name” of title.)***

 

17.) Continue this process till you reach the end.

 

View slideshow and make changes.

18.)At this point you want to look at your slideshow. You may want to go back and make changes. To preview what you have already you need to generate a slideshow. Select the “Generate” button so that the window below is shown. Once you see it you have to select a file name and a location to save it at. ***(I selected the file name “test”.)***

 

19.) Real slideshow will then go through a process of generating the slideshow. Once it has completed this process you will want to view it. Just click on “Play” button to view the file. If there are any mistakes you may go back and redo you work. Then generate another test. Once you are completely satisfied you will now need to save the slideshow. With your mouse click on file and select “Save Project As…”.

 

20.) Type in you filename for it and a location to save it at.

 

21.)At this point your project went from a title of “Untitled*” to “Your filename”. ***(In my case “ALTATC_Slideshow.rpj”)***

 

22.) At this time you are done and may present your work to your teachers and classmates.
