Instructional Design and Learning Strategies

Goal Statement: Teachers will learn how to use Webccat to search, select, and print appropriate TAKS problems for their students to use in class.

Analyzing the student learners targeted in the instructional design being developed is a means to identify the learner characteristics that will likely impact the process and outcomes of the learning experience.

Aspect 1: Syntax

Learning Goals Instructional Strategies Instructor Actions Teachers Activities
Teachers will determine what TAKS obj. to concentrate on based of results of the last benchmark. Direct Instruction & Discussion Discuss how to get TAKS objectives from facilitator and how to determine the critical areas we need to address first. Get a copy of students benchmark and determine what are the TAKS objectives  the students are weakest at.
Teachers will log into Webccat with their username and password. Instruction/Demonstration  Discussion Demonstrate how to type in ip address and save it to favorites. Demonstrate how to type in username and password. Will listen and watch presentation as to where to log in and type in their password and username as requested.
Teachers will create title page and add selected TAKS objectives to handout/test. Direct Instruction/Demonstration Active Learning Demonstrate how to create a title page, navigate to "Assessment Menu", Create an Assessment, do a search on specific grade and TAKS Objectives, select from available problems, and preview TAKS handout Will find the grade level, select appropriate TAKS objective, add selection to test, and preview test items.
Teachers will save test and print out handout for classroom use. Direct Instruction/Demonstration Active Learning Demonstrate how to save test and print TAKS handout. They will save the test and print out a copy for immediate use in the classroom.

Aspect 2: The Social System: Interpersonal structure of the instructional experience.

Teachers will be collaborating throughout the project within their content area. They will research and compile their information about how the students did on the benchmark. They will determine what TAKS objective to create the handout by knowing where students are having difficulty in . The will create and print handouts for co teacher and students to use.. The will discuss and reflect how Webccat can target area of need. Then teachers will be give time to create addition handout for classroom use and for reinforcement of knowledge.

Aspect 3: The Role of the Instructor: General instructional Role

Inform teacher what materials are required of them prior to training. Provide instruction and handout for training. Guide teachers on how to use Webccat to create & print TAKS problems for co-workers and students. Assist teachers with using Webccat as needed.

Aspect 4: The Support System: types of instructional, technical, and other resources required for the instruction.

Teachers will be provided with an assignment handout and an example of the material they are to create.. Provided will be a computer lab with working computers with internet access. Provide access to training material via intranet & allow teacher into lab to use computers to create and save additional TAKS handouts. Provide multimedia projector for presentation.
