Advantage (+) or Constraint (-)
Initial Ideas on Addressing Pertinent Characteristics in the Learning Environment
Age/Academic Range 11-12

-
Students will be paired together for academic range balance and flexibility
Sex Distribution Male/Female

Developmentally Appropriate
Easily Distratcted, too much social interaction
-
Proper pairing and scaffolding classroom management will improve this area.
Prerequisite Knowledge Prior experience in basic Internet searching and Word Processing

Students need some prior training before project time so the focus can be on the content and project. This can be done by the Campus Instructional Technologist.
Perception of Role as Student Students will work indepentently and in groups to complete scaffolding activities and projects
+
Plan proper grouping and seating. Provide encouragement and monitoring.
Motivation for Learning Students are highly motivated when working with the computers and visual, hands-on, auditory combinations of activities

Content
Main Topics
Sub-Topics (What Is Involved In Learning Each Main Topic?)
Readiness To Learn (Prerequisites Mastered)
Degree of Learning Difficulty Real/Imagined
Possible Instructional Strategies helpful in reducing the degree of Learning Difficulty
Brainstrom Rules of Law Knowledge of rules of sports games including baseball, football and basketball
Most 6th grade students in our District are very familiar with sports and are very interested in the subject
Lack of sports knowledge. Use Computer as a Multimedia Chalkboard (Instructional Technology) with Inspiration for Brainstorming to keep students focused and involved. Whole group is providing information. Organized Discussion.
Research Code of Hammurabi Basic Knowledge of Internet Research including Search Engines, Basic Copyright and Reading Skills
Most students at the 6th grade level have a basic understanding of searching the Internet. Copyright skills are lacking and there are multi-level reading modifications to address
No Internet Permission Slip from home. Visual Impairment. Reading difficulties Provide alternate informaton through the library and off-line sources. VI Coordinator works with Visually Impaired Student on the Braille Machine and Internet. Student pairing can assist in the Reading Levels. Choose websites that are appropriate.
Small Group Collaboration Knowledge of Rubric Expectation of Behavior Most students will cooperate if well-informed with the Rubric. Personality difficulties in the same group. Provide Flexible and Careful grouping. Scaffolding materials and teacher monitoring will keep students focused and task.
Writing Process No previous knowledge required.
Possible lack of motitivation for topic.
Poor writing skills. Real product produced by students. Multimedia display and student interaction. Instructional Technology. Organized Discussion.
