Introduction (Prepare and use a PowerPoint through out workshop)
- Have students put a dot on each area for their level
- Introduce self, goals for class.
- Share the history of the 6 traits
- Ask teachers to do an affinity chart (write their expectations and record on chart paper to display)
- Explain why we believe in 6 traits
- Show video clips of an actual lesson from the trainers' classrooms

Introducing Word Choice

2: The social system |
| Describe the interpersonal structure of the instructional
experience.
This 6 Traits of Writing Staff Development is a district initiative with all elementary teachers participating. The staff development will be lead by four elementary classroom teachers who have been using 6 Traits with their students. It will be conducted over a two day period. Each teacher will present a portion of the workshop. We are planning one teachers section.

The role of the instructor will be to demonstrate the use of 6 Traits of Writing, lead teachers in activities they can use in their classrooms, and facilitate discussions.
