1. Apply higher order thinking skills while creating
tessellations using the Paint program.
Demonstration delivered via teacher-made demonstration
on overhead projector.
Modeling in computer lab using data-projector.
|
pencil/construction paper//scissors for creating
tessellations from paper squares.
|
a pencil sharpener
cut squares out ahead of time

|
Overhead projector for demonstrating "nibbling" and
transformations used in creating the tessellations.
Teacher computer in classroom with presentation station or
Smart Board for instruction.
Ideally, the teacher will take the students to the computer
lab for the Paint portion of the lesson.
|
The overhead projector is preferred method of demonstrating
the paper tessellations activity.
This computer is slow, but will run Paint. Teacher has
the option of using the 4th grade team Smart Board for
lessons and demonstrations delivered to the whole class. The teacher will have to schedule a
time to use the Smart Board computer and lesson will be
conducted in that location.
The computer lab has recently been included in the encore
rotation schedule and will be available only 1 45-minute
period per day. Since this is a self-contained
classroom, the teacher has the ability to adjust her schedule
so that she can use the lab during that time. She will need to
schedule well ahead of time.

2. Create a PowerPoint slide for presenting his/her
tessellation. Demonstration
delivered via data projector in the lab, presentation station
in the classroom if necessary.

Lab computers for creating Paint tessellations.
Classroom student computers or library computers for students
needing more time to finish.
|
Availability of the lab is severely limited this year.
The teacher will need to schedule well in advance.
The student computers are older, but still adequate for
students to use if they need extended time for completion of
the project or if the lab becomes unavailable.

3. Choose effective technology tools to support engaged
student learning.
Teacher will investigate available software that will
enhance instruction.

The computer lab has been ghosted resulting in the loss of
several programs previously available to the teachers and
students at this campus. The teacher needs to become
aware of what is available and each program can be used to
effectively integrate technology into her curriculum. The
teacher will also communicate the need to have any software
she determines should be reloaded on the machines. |

ultimate decisions about the software that will be reinstalled
and the time frame involved will be made by the district
technology coordinator.) |

4. Reflect and design a technology rich lesson that
supports higher order thinking skills.

E-Mail
|
Teacher can search the internet for suggestions for lessons
and/or confer with peers and instructional technologist for
suggestions and/or assistance. |

5. Use instructional strategies that support diverse
learners.

|
Assistive technology will depend on learner needs.
|
Teacher will more than likely need support from Instructional
Technologist depending on the Assistive Technology needed. |
