Adult Learner
Analysis
Analyzing adult learners is a means to identify
the adult learner characteristics that will likely impact the process and
outcomes of the learning experience.
|
Factor |
Description |
Advantage or
Constraint |
Initial Ideas for Maximizing Positive
Factors or Minimizing Negative Factors |
| Age | 50-55 | advantage | |
| Teaching Experience |
20 + years | advantage | The teacher has been an exceptional teacher in high school his whole career and loves integrated projects. Vast array of knowledge |
|
Skill Level |
Intermediate experience with daily activities and some research projects. | advantage |
Constant communication through all areas of lesson development not required |
|
Attitude Toward Subject |
Enthusiastic | advantage | Teacher is willing to learn new concepts. Very excited about the project and that will carry over to students. |
|
Stage of Integration |
Adopting New Concepts/Integration | advantage | The teacher is willing to try all new concepts and allow students to use alternative assessments |
| Appropriate for Subject Matter |
This lesson will be developed by the teacher with input from students and other science teachers | advantage | Unsure of exact requirements may pose a problem. Not sure what to grade |
| Prerequisite Knowledge | None required in technology area | advantage | Science knowledge is required but the use of Videowave requries little prior knowledge. |
| Previouse Integration Experience | Teacher has some technology integration experience in his class | advantage | Knows what to expect from the teacher's standpoint. Teacher has basis for timing of lesson |
| Perception of Role as Student | The teacher must take the roll of the student? I think this teacher is very open to all learn - he is a continual learner | advantage | Willingness is the key- the teacher will expand on this project to other classes |
| Motivation for Learning | The teacher will be willing to come after school and during conference periods to learn the new software. | advantage - |
Use times to show other concepts and ideas |
| Attitude Toward Subject | This teacher has his wheels turning and is very excited. Wants to create a video for younger grades to teach science concepts | advantage | What possibilites this could have -- I can see not only cross curriculum ideas - but cross levels from elementary to high school |
| Expectations from Mentoring Session | Completed Video with students having better understanding of Bioms | advantage | |

Environment Factors
Analyzing the environment
is a means to identify the issues that will impact the (a) process of the design
and production, (b) implementation, and (c) outcomes of the learning experience.

Main Subject Matter Topic -
Environmental Science Class. Bioms are
the subject matter. The students will have assigned bioms to research.
They will produce a video with pictures, videos, information and sound from
their biom.
I will teach the use of video editing software and internet research skills.
Sub Topics:
Creating Video. The teacher will teach the requirements
and lesson on bioms.

Readiness to Learn
The teacher is very eager to learn video editing. He approached me when
he saw what my Mulitmedia students were doing.
Degree of Learning Difficulty:
Various levels of computer
experience will be encountered - the disadvantage will be in this area. The
advantage will be the
willingness to learn and use the equipment. The
teacher will be learning all new concepts. Video editing software we are
using
is realtively easy to learn.
Teaching Strategies:
Communicating with the teacher will be my main
strategy.
