1. Identify and organize elements of short story

Teacher will discuss elements of
literature after students have defined them. Students will read several stories both
orally and silently, and teacher will model analysis of a short story for
elements through a large group discussion. Students will then practice analyzing a
short story by completing a literary web in Inspiration. Reflection activities will be interjected
throughout the activities.

After introducing Locker Laws (school
rules governing locker use), the teacher will assign students the task of
writing a short story incorporating the literary elements about someone
who breaks the Locker Laws. She
will then have them analyze their own stories in Inspiration.
