Sandra Hines
Jodie Ingram: what evidence
Sandra Hines: my evidence would be when questioned about why they think something...
they would be able to explain it in a detail
Jayne Germany: sounds great
Jayne Germany: next goal is being non judgemental?
Sandra Hines: I'm thinking about the teacher I'm going to work with...no more
on this one please
Jodie Ingram: you pick
Sandra Hines: I was thinking that the teacher would be able to have a greater
understanding of why they want to do a certain activity
Jayne Germany: you are shifting the focus of the goals..i think it fits the
pdp better
Sandra Hines: or what they needed to look for in that activity
Sandra Hines: that is good...smile
Jayne Germany: evidence of knowing why?
Sandra Hines: don't understand your questions
Jayne Germany: if the goal is for her to have a greater understanding of why
she wants to do the activity, how will you know she has accomplished that?
Jodie Ingram: I think : what evidence will you have that the teacher has a
greater understanding. How will you measure it
Sandra Hines: good questions...let's see
Sandra Hines: She will be able to explain it..put words behind her thoughts...i'm
not being clear
Jodie Ingram: she will be able to list the benefits...
Sandra Hines: I guess she will know what learning objectives she wants to accomplish
and how she needs to access them
Jodie Ingram: great
Jayne Germany: good! next goal?
Sandra Hines: listing benefits is good
Sandra Hines: next goal should be one of yours
Sandra Hines: thanks
Jayne Germany: okay...
Jayne Germany: My teacher will be able to be an independent user of technology
in her classroom
Jodie Ingram: how willl you measure
Sandra Hines: excellent goal..how will you know she has accomplished that
Jayne Germany: she will devise a checklist of teacher skills, necessary hardware,
and software for the lesson
Jayne Germany: she will make a checklist of item to "check" before
the lesson
Jayne Germany: maybe not "check" but 'test"
Jayne Germany: something concrete she can use when I am not there
Jodie Ingram: sounds like you are focusing of techno problems not curriculum
Sandra Hines: for each lesson? can you help me understand this checklist
Jodie Ingram: which is fine but may need to be include in your goal statement
Jayne Germany: any suggestions?
Sandra Hines: it could be in the student behavior area
Sandra Hines: I like the .. something concrete... please ellaborate
Jayne Germany: Like--check to make sure the projector is working with the laptop,
make sure students have logins
Jayne Germany: I realize it is not curriculum-based, but it is a need for this
teacher...she is very dependent
Sandra Hines: This is a list that she would create... or one that was created
that she will follow
Jayne Germany: we can create it to gether for her to use
Jodie Ingram: Enable a teacher to prepare for technology use in class by use
of a check list and trouble shooting guide
Sandra Hines: would this list also include a list of ideas or examples she
could include in lesson plans?
Jayne Germany: ooo sound good
Jayne Germany: what kinds of examples?
Jodie Ingram: product examples??
Jayne Germany: maybe---hadn't hought about it
Sandra Hines: when I think of an educator who is an independent user of technology,
I think of her being able to devise the lesson plan that integtrates technology
and then being able to carry it out... how does your goal fit with that idea?
Jayne Germany: it fits with the sencd halpf--haven't gotten to the other half--thats
another goal
Sandra Hines: so you are saying that an independent user of tech.. should be
able to carry out a lesson that is already designed for her.. right?
Jayne Germany: no--she needs to desing the lesson
Jayne Germany: i will give you another goal(s) to cver designg the lesson
Sandra Hines: design it and include technology?
Jayne Germany: yes
Jayne Germany: goal 2--teacher will be able to create a lesson that infuses
problem-solving skills
Sandra Hines: how does that goal fit with what you said about adding technology?
Jayne Germany: maybe my 1st goal was too broad--how about the teacher will
be able to implement a technology integration lesson independently and successfully?
Sandra Hines: very well worded... is that a rework or goal #1 and nothing to
do with goal #2?
Jodie Ingram: sounds good
Jayne Germany: yes and goal 3 would be that the teacher is able to choose the
most effective tech tool to engage students in the lesson ojectives
Jodie Ingram: how will you collect evidence of that
Sandra Hines: so goal #3 would be the technology compenent that goal #2 doesn't
have?
Jayne Germany: yes
Jayne Germany: evidence..let me think..
Jayne Germany: Teacher will be albe to discuss with her mentor the possible
choices and advantages/disadvantages of each, then reach a conclusion based
on that discussion?
Jodie Ingram: excellent
Jayne Germany: whew
Sandra Hines: one question
Jayne Germany: yes
Sandra Hines: does that agree with the independent part of the first goal?
Jayne Germany: the independent part is nnow JUST in the implementation of the
lesson
Sandra Hines: okay.. I think I understand.. good job... do we go on to Jodie?
Jodie Ingram: ready I think
Jayne Germany: go for it
Jodie Ingram: the goal is to assist my teachers in creating lesson plans which
increase student achievement through technology
Sandra Hines: how will you know that achievement has been increased?
Jodie Ingram: Through reflection discussion after the lesson with the teacher??
Sandra Hines: would you explain your thinking
Jayne Germany: will students produce something to prove acheivement?
Jodie Ingram: yes students would create a product of sometype
Jodie Ingram: the teacher would then compare the product to a similar group
possibly last year without technology
Sandra Hines: are you suggesting that if they create a product.. there has
been increased achievment
Sandra Hines: you answered before I asked..smile
Jodie Ingram: Does it make sense and how do I write that as a goal
Jodie Ingram: .... increase student achievement over previous years....
Sandra Hines: look at if from a learner objective.. teacher will be able...
Jodie Ingram: The teacher will be able to create and use a technology-integrated
lesson to improve student achievement over previous years.
Jayne Germany: yes!
Sandra Hines: excellent
Sandra Hines: now can we do me again..I picked a bad goal the first time
Jayne Germany: yes we can
Jodie Ingram: go
Sandra Hines: guide a teacher or grade level to create a technology rich unit
on the topic of their choice
Jodie Ingram: what evidence
Jayne Germany: do you want to change that to teachers/grade level will be able
to create a technology rich unit on the topic of their choice?
Sandra Hines: yes... but that was exactly what my original goal was I sent
you
Jayne Germany: it's almost too broad--maybe break it into sub-goals?
Sandra Hines: the evidence would be the product they would create...which should
be a unit on the topic of the choosing that integrated technology
Jayne Germany: so that includes lesson plans, rubrics, student products?
Sandra Hines: yes...the whole unit. so they can carry out the unit as written
Sandra Hines: evidence would also include thier ability to find resources
Sandra Hines: thier ability to pick the appropriate tools
Jayne Germany: would evidence be a timeline of meeting dates since they will
have to collaborae to create an interdisciplinary unit?
Jayne Germany: is it interdisciplinary in nature?
Jodie Ingram: I don't see anything to add unless you said ..... technology
rich unit including lesson plans, products, etc.
Sandra Hines: that would be their choice
Sandra Hines: so I could be more specific about what a unit is?
Jodie Ingram: I would
Sandra Hines: good idea
Jayne Germany: you mentioned grade level, so i thought it could be...i guess
it could be a group of math teachers..
Jayne Germany: i think interediciplinary teams since i am middle
Sandra Hines: I have a grade level that did not work together this year and
one teacher left and we hired a new one... one of my goals is to get them working
together... sly smile
Sandra Hines: i am elementary
Jayne Germany: yes, I have those 2
Jayne Germany: it seems to be 8th grade across my campuses
Jayne Germany: back on track--jodie, do you have another?
Jodie Ingram: yes
Sandra Hines: they probably exsist everywhere
Jayne Germany: yep
Sandra Hines: shoot
