1. Determine goals for the fund raiser: amount of money needed, number of shirts sold, etc.

Presentation, reading, discussion, questioning, reflecting, peer collaboration

Teacher will present problem situation and question students regarding what are realistic goals and expectations for the project. Students will work together in small groups to determine their individual goals.

Defining Elements, Reading problem situation, group discussion on goals setting, creation of itemized list of goals and expecatations.

2. Create a table and graph in Excel comparing the two possible t-shirt companies.

Presentation, discussion, collaboration

Teacher demonstrates use of Excel to create a table and graph (laptop/projector). Teachers shows and explains to students an example table comapring two companies.

3. Analyze the graph to determine which company offers the better deal.

Teacher will discuss the things to consider when analyzing the table and graph and evaluating the companies.

Students write an analysis report documenting the results and conclusions.

4. Create PowerPoint presentation to display the information (graphs, analysis, etc.) and propose a company to do business with.

Teacher will present the fundamentals of creating a presentation using PowerPoint (laptop/projector). Teacher will instruct students on what elements are required in presentation.

Aspect 2: The social system

Describe the interpersonal structure of the instructional experience.

Students will be taking part in whole class and group discussions, reflections, and conferencing with teacher as well as working individually during the writing process.

Aspect 3: The role of the instructor

Describe your general instructional role. For example, will you present material, guide students as they research their own issues, etc?

Lead discussions, present material, facilitate software use and analyzing processes.

Aspect 4: The support system

Describe the types and amount of instructional, technical, and other resource support required for the instruction (e.g., instructional materials, communication capabilities).
