Jeffrey Marx: Hi Sonya and Courtney
Courtney Morawski: hi jeff!
Sonya Lanham: Hi Jeff
Courtney Morawski: who wants to be in charge, not me!
Jeffrey Marx: Who is coaching who?
Sonya Lanham: Have you all met with your mentee?
Courtney Morawski: no, not yet...
Jeffrey Marx: I am confused... who is our mentee?
Sonya Lanham: Mine is a fifth grade teacher on campus
Courtney Morawski: we pick a teacher to be our mentee and then we coach each other on what to say to them...
Sonya Lanham: I think so
Courtney Morawski: I am working with a 2nd grade teacher but haven't discussed our lesson yet
Jeffrey Marx: I thought we are coaching each other
Courtney Morawski: Yes, we coach on ways to work with our mentee, confusing huh
Courtney Morawski: i think..
Sonya Lanham: It took me awhile to understand what to do
Jeffrey Marx: This is the first I hear about a mentee
Courtney Morawski: what are we suppose to do today, that is what I am confused about...
Sonya Lanham: I think just discuss our mentee and what they will be doing
Courtney Morawski: Let's decide who is coaching who...
Sonya Lanham: Mine is doing a lesson on Louisiana Purchase with Powerpoint in 5th grade social studies
Jeffrey Marx: How did you find out we need a mentee?
Courtney Morawski: I watched the mentoring experience video she sent the link to
Sonya Lanham: I missed that.
Courtney Morawski: it was in the announcments i think
Sonya Lanham: Jeff do you know who you will be working with?
Jeffrey Marx: Is the lesson plan we are supposed to develop for ourslves or our mentee
Courtney Morawski: mentee
Sonya Lanham: Mine does not have alot of technology exp so I will be more of expert coach
Sonya Lanham: Have you all worked on the prof goals?
Jeffrey Marx: I guess I need to get a mentee
Courtney Morawski: Does she already have a lesson plan or are you writing it together
Sonya Lanham: She should.
Jeffrey Marx: This is different concept from the sample that was given in the syllabus
Courtney Morawski: I am really confused as well
Jeffrey Marx: I think I will call Ms. Swiderski tomorrow
Courtney Morawski: sounds good. maybe you can copy us if she clarifies for you tomorrow
Sonya Lanham: I am leaving tomorrow and will not be able to do this tomorrow.
Courtney Morawski: I will plan on putting this chat as documentation that we had a pre-conf
Sonya Lanham: So will I
Jeffrey Marx: so will I
Sonya Lanham: I wrote this questions down and I am not sure where I got them so here goes
Sonya Lanham: What is main goal for your lesson
Sonya Lanham: What grade level
Sonya Lanham: Will they work independently or groups
Sonya Lanham: What will be your evaluation goals for the teacher
Sonya Lanham: What assessment will be used.
Sonya Lanham: How do you plan to introduced the concept
Courtney Morawski: My main goal is to integrate tech into a lesson for 2nd grade. They will work independently in parts and in groups at other times, don't know evaluation goals yet or assessment.
Sonya Lanham: These are the questions I think we should be asking each other
Sonya Lanham: We have enough computers for every student but I'm not sure what she has in mind.
Courtney Morawski: are you using a lab?
Sonya Lanham: yes
Courtney Morawski: mobile?
Sonya Lanham: No were a poor small district
Courtney Morawski: :)
Jeffrey Marx: What are the lesson goals?
Sonya Lanham: For the students to learn powerpoint and research techniques
Sonya Lanham: Our elementary hasn't used alot of technology except for tutorials and that sort of thing
Jeffrey Marx: What technology tools will you be using?
Sonya Lanham: We will be using powerpoint and microsoft word. the students will save their notes in word and also cut and paste from Internet. We will also go over copyright
Courtney Morawski: sounds like this will be a good lesson
Sonya Lanham: Have you are worked on your prof dev plan?
Courtney Morawski: no, i think they are due in mod 3
Jeffrey Marx: How will you model what you want the students to do?
Sonya Lanham: The teacher will be demonstrating with a projector. I am going to suggest she does one first to give the an example. I think they will love the powerpoint
Courtney Morawski: I think you are right, you might want to go over the rules about adding sounds and transitions, sometimes they go overbaord :)
Sonya Lanham: They love all the bell and whistles
Jeffrey Marx: Will the students work at the computers while she demonstrates
Sonya Lanham: what do you think is the best way
Courtney Morawski: i think the first time they watch and the 2nd time you walk them through at the computer then independent
Jeffrey Marx: I think it depends on how the lab is set-up...ideally the students could practice while she is demonstrating
Courtney Morawski: yes, the lab setup is very important
Sonya Lanham: I usually show an example and then have the students work through with me.
Courtney Morawski: I am sorry guys but motherhood is calling. My baby is crying...Please let mek now if anything else happens.
Sonya Lanham: Don't forget to save
Jeffrey Marx: Unfortunately, my lab is not set-up so I can have the students at the computers while I demonstrate
Courtney Morawski: thanks for the reminder sonya, bye!!!
Sonya Lanham: We will be working in the elementary lab and I am not sure how it is set up
Courtney Morawski has left the chat.
Jeffrey Marx: bye Courtney..I'll let you know if I find anything out
Sonya Lanham: Do you think we have done enough?
Jeffrey Marx: My understanding was we partner up and take turns being mentor and mentee. So far my role has been mentor
Sonya Lanham: I have been confused about all of this
Sonya Lanham: I read about the video taping and that really confuses me
Jeffrey Marx: I guess this is enough for know...at least it shows we tried
Sonya Lanham: ok bye
