Factors
Description
Advantage or Constraint
Initial Ideas for Maximizing Positive Factors or Minimizing Negative Factors
Age / Academic Range 13-18 +   Anticipate older students being more tech aware, and younger students being more risk takers.
Sex Distribution 50/50 M/F +   Most likely will stay on task, and with class
Racial, Ethnic Diversity even distribution of white, black, asian, hispanic +   NA
Educational Level high school students +   Proven capable of reading and doing
Disability or Impairment All in this class are classified Special Ed.   - Adapt lesson to accomodate learning rate of these students
Developmentally Appropriate Consistent with age +   NA
Prerequisite Knowledge Basic Keyboarding Skills   - Required of all students
Related Experience None on computer, but they have done research and class presentations +   Sometimes can get so focused on details as to miss the big picture
Perception of Role as Student Eager to learn +   Good students
Motivation for Learning This is a skill that transfers to the workplace +   This is a skill they can use in other classes
Attitude Toward Subject Interested but not a true believer yet +   They will like the outcome
Expectations from Session Fundamentals of Powerpoint +   We will produce a finished presentation
Competitiveness Pride in ownership +   Key to success
Environment factors that may impact learner-centered instruction.

Analyzing the environment is a means to identify the issues that will impact the (a) process of the design and production, (b) implementation, and (c) outcomes of the learning experience

Content factors that may impact learner-centered instruction.

Analyzing the content is a means to identify in general terms the topics to be addressed in your course and to analyze these topics in terms of the prequisite sub-topics, and degree of learning difficulty

Main Topics Sub-Topics (What Is Involved In Learning Each Main Topic?) Readiness To Learn (Prerequisites Mastered) Degree of Learning Difficulty (Real / Imagined) Possible Instructional Strategies to Reduce or Manage Learning Difficulty
1. Use of laptop computer check out, turn on, use touch pad, create and name folder varied skill levels are expected in the class most skills are classified as easy very basic to start, diagrams, show and tell, and hands on
2. Powerpoint open software, new file, create new slide, save as, save, insert text, insert image, change master slide basic computer skills need to listen, and follow instructions, students have already done their research fundamentals skills first, then basic steps the students can follow and then repeat on their own for subsequent slides
3. Presentations students will do presentations after this class and be graded then students are eager to learn this valuable, fun skill all are confident they can do a good job room will be a little crowded and I will have to move around a lot helping students. I'll stay mobile
