The
website that I looked at was http://www.lesliefisher.com.
She was a presenter at a Connected Classroom Conference that I attended
several years ago. She was a very informative and animated presenter.
Some of her handouts are available on her website.
I
tested the website for the following criteria:
- PC
and Mac (Tangent, Dell and iMac)
- Internet
Explorer 6.0 and Netscape 4.7
- All
3 common screen sizes: 640x480, 800x600, and 1024x768
- More
than one brand of monitor (KDS 17 in. flat panel, Dell 15 in.
and CTX 17 in.)
I
found absolutely no difference. The website appeared exactly the
same when all criteria were compared.
I
looked at the source code. The website was created in Adobe GoLive.
It does have some CSS, but it does not make a difference in Internet
Explorer or Netscape. She used exact pixel settings for her tables
instead of percentages, so you can see the page without horizontal
scrolling, even at 640x480.
The
second part of this assignment was to review another leaner's website
they posted and offer suggestions on how the website could be made
cross platform. I looked at http://www.somerset.k12.tx.us,
which LaVonda critiqued. I looked at the code and the table width
is 99%. When you look at the page at 640x480, half the page is off
the screen. I think they should change the outer table width to
pixels and then use percentages inside if needed.
