Learning Goals
Instructional Strategies
Instructor Actions
Student Activities
Student Goal
Analyze and describe adaptive characteristics that result in an organism's unique niche in an ecosystem.
Brainstorm
Direct Instruction
Questioning
Instructor will give students definitions of cycles, structures and processes.

Instructor will facilitate discussion exposing prior knowledge on cycles, structures and processes named by students and write student reponses on board

Students will listen and ask questions when necessary.

Student's will respond to brainstorming discussion.

Students will draw on prior knowledge.

Student Goal
Research and describe characteristics of 6 biomes.

Direct Instruction
Demonstration

Instructor will assign students to partners to ensure diverse groups.

Instructor will provide each group one specific biome to research.

Instructor will identify the characteristics students are to research. Characteristics include the biome's location, temperature, rainfall, animals, plants and one interesting fact.

Instructor will review Internet research skills and citing sources.

Students will list characteristics identified by the instructor necessary for full credit.

Students will activate prior knowledge.

Students will listen attentively.

Collaboration
Dialogue
Questioning

Instructor will facilitate research by listening and guiding students.

Students will cooperate with a partner and find characteristics of their biome using credible Internet sources.

Students will document their research of their biome on paper. Visually impaired student will be allowed to type documentation using enlarged keyboard.

Students will evaluate their findings to become and expert on their assigned biome.

Students will combine into two groups. Each biome will be represented by one expert.

Students will collaborate to combine learned information about each biome.

Students will compile learned characteristics of 6 biomes and record information on paper.

Demonstration

Instructor will show examples of completed technology projects.

Instructor will guide and instruct students on technology application of student's choice as necessary.

Students will join their original partners and decide how they wish to present information learned.

Using prior knowledge of technology skills, students will choose and create a word document, pamphlet, web page, slideshow presentation or database containing characteristics of 6 biomes.

Presentation Instructor will complete a project rubric assessing final project. Students will complete a team rubric to perform a peer assessment of partners.
Teacher Goal
Gain confidence in creating technology integrated lessons and differientiate instruction for diverse learners.
Collaboration
Reflection
Cognitive Coaching

Allow time to create scripted lessons using templates to minimize frustrations during lessons.

Team teach and plan lessons with Instructional Technology Specialist.

Reflect with Instructional Technology Specialist after lesson.

Use Intellikey with large keyboard overlay for student with visual impairement.

Show examples of completed technology projects using a projector rather than a TV to aid visual impairement.

Teacher Goal
Improve and practice classroom management strategies including creating a cooperative atmosphere.

Reflection
Dialogue

Consider gender, race, and abilities when selecting cooperative groups.

Arrange desks and other furniture to give adequate room for cooperative groups.

Guide students with questions to support collaboration.

Professional Goals
Improve cognitive coaching skills and achieve more complex questioning skills to address the needs of diverse learners.
Questioning
Collaboration
Dialogue

Reflection

Anticipate teacher's responses to cognitive coaching questions to be prepared with redirecting questions.

Practice coaching skills with a classroom teacher while being evaluated by a peer.

Gear questioning to specific IEP modifications to ensure they are addressed by the teacher.

Professional Goals
Increase the amount of technology integrated lessons in classrooms by learning to coach teachers effectively.

Collaboration
Direct Instruction

Collaborate with classroom teachers on a monthly basis.

Provide teachers with training on applications to increase their comfort level with specific programs.

Create integrated lesson examples.

Aspect 2: The Social System
Describe the interpersonal structure of the instructional experience.
This unit requires students to work in conjunction with one partner and research one biome. Once research on their biome is complete, one person from each group will combine forming two groups. Each student will become an expert in their researched area and collaborate with peers to teach and share the information they found. Students will be responsible for obtaining adequate information for all six biomes. Groups will rejoin with their original partner and compile information on six biomes into a technology project of their choice. Students will be accountable for individual contributions, sharing of information, and final project.
Aspect 3: The Role of the Instructor
Describe your general instructional role. For example, will you present material, guide students
as they research, etc.?

The instructor will facilitate learning while students research their assigned biome and direct teach technology application skills as needed. The instructor will assess learning by observation and rubrics as students create their final presentation.

Aspect 4: The Support System
Describe the types and amount of instructional, technical, and other resource support required for the instruction (e.g., instructional materials, communication capabilities.)
