My mentee will establish her training goal and objectives early in the training session...

Motive teachers: Welcome teachers and thank them for coming. Tell them that video conferencing is an experience that most of their students have never before done! Add that video conferencing meets their TA TEKS standards for educator as well as TA TEKS 8A, 8B, 8D for their students.

State the training goal and objectives directly and specifically.

Ask if they have other learning desires to add to the training lesson.

Website: Trainer will introduce teachers to the Connect2Texas website. (Distribute documentation about the Connect2Texas site.) Guide teachers in searching techniques while in the programs area. (Vision impaired teacher will sit at the computer with 800x600 resolution.)

Time Management: Trainer will visit with the teachers about the need for flexibility because of the various parties who are involved that makes their video conference (distance learning) event a possibility. Suggest that they allow at least a week between their registration day and their event date.

Search & Lesson Plan: The trainer will allow time for teachers to search and visit about the database of programs. Each teacher should locate at least one program that meets their curriculum needs and write it into their lesson plan. Assist teachers when necessary.

Teachers will listen and ask questions for clarification.

Aspect 2: The social system

Describe the interpersonal structure of the instructional experience.

This training will be held in the distance learning lab. Teachers are on the same team so they know and work together. Teachers will work at tables that seat two. They will share their lesson plan (product) to the group. A survey will be submitted by each teacher.

Aspect 3: The Role of the Instructor
Describe your general instructional role. For example, will you or the instructor present material, guide students as they research their own issues, etc?

I will support my mentee as a mentor, technical assistant, facilitator, and team teacher. She will be in charge of her training and in charge of her lesson. She will be the primary trainer. I will be her support system.
Aspect 4: The support system

Describe the types and amount of instructional, technical, and other resource support required for the instruction (e.g., instructional materials, communication capabilities).

Coaching support-
One-on-one communications between my mentee and me via phone, email or in person.

Training support-

LCD Projector for demonstration
Display computer
Internet access (RegXI website )
Laptops for teachers
eSembler to enter lesson plan

Vision Impaired students may need-
Large computer screen resolution
Color overlays
Large font handout
