Discuss: "Live imitates Art" Explane that books, music, art..etc. are influenced by the culture of the time.

Discuss a current example of a song the students listen to now. For example songs about 9/11

Listen to the song. Using Word Create a 2 column table: One column labeled "Says" the other labeled "Means"

Online: Research writer and time the song was written.

 

Group will create a bio about writer and time.

Students maybe allowed to copy/paste but must credit source

Identify significant events and personalities. Collaboration Research Lyrics: Why were these events/persons important. What do they represent

Build a timeline based on events and persionalities. Include what culture was like during these times

Students may use Inspiration software to do this activity.

Students may use a microphone to recourd new verse (students do not have to sing)

Aspect 2: The Social System
This unit will be taught during the first six weeks of school. Students will be assigned to teams. All students will participate in class discussions. Students will be given job descriptions for their role in group work. Then the group grade each others' participation.
Aspect 3: The Instructor

The instructor's role will change throughout the project. The instructor will be teacher, demonstrator, facilitator, and learner. They will need to monitor the progress of the groups.

Aspect 4: The Support System
