Optimizing Images

I took all my photos with a Minolta Dimage F100 4.0 mega pixels camera taken with a 2272 x 1704 resolution. To optimize the images for use on the web I used Macromedia Fireworks MX. I first resized my photos for use on the web page, then used the photo optimize feature in Fireworks MX to lower the file size and download time while keeping the appearance of the photo.

The download time on this file of 44 seconds is too long due to the large file size.
I reduced the quality on this photo to 60 percent using Macromedia Fireworks MX. The detail of the wood flooring began to fade as the percentage was lowered. At 60 percent you could still see the detail necessary and increase the download time to 1 second.
