Cynthia’s goal:
My goal is to meet the teacher at their level so they are comfortable using technology in teaching.

Cindy’s response:

How are you going to measure that they have accomplished this comfort zone?

Cynthia’s response:

When they begin to show that they are incorporating technology into their lesson planning. Hopefully this will be in a way that shows they are using it as a logical extension of their lesson.

Cindy’s response:

When you say as “a logical extension of their lesson” could you say more about what logical extension entails.

I would look to see that they are using their lesson objective to guide the lesson planning process.

Cindy’s response:

How would you determine that the teacher has used the objectives to guide the development of the lesson and can the lesson include other objectives?

Cynthia’s response:

I would try to encourage them to zero in on one objective. If I have them restate their objective for me, I can determine that they are using that to guide their planning.

Cindy’s Goal:
My goal is to help teachers use technology to enhance instructional strategies.

Cynthia’s response:
What strategies will you use to help the teachers?

Cindy’s response:
I will use cognitive coaching strategies to lead the teacher to think about how they will use technology to enhance the lesson. I will ask the teacher to think about what kinds of technology the school has available for her/him to use in the lesson and how that will improve instruction.

Cynthia’s response:
What type of questioning strategy might you use to find out how they feel a certain technology might improve instruction?

Cindy’s response:
I will use how, why, what, when, type of questions to get the teacher to clarify her/his goals. I will paraphrase what the teacher is saying to help me better understand what they are trying to accomplish. I will also try to get the teacher to be more specific by using questions that will focus their thinking.

Cynthia’s response:
As you think about your desired outcome, what part of this coaching process do you feel the most confident about?

Cindy’s response:
I feel most comfortable with coming up with ways to use technology to enhance the lessons. I know I still have to grow in my cognitive coaching skills. I need more practice in questions strategies and hope to work on those and become more proficient in the skill.
