Celebrating Dr. Seuss’ Birthday and Reading Awareness

(1) The librarian promotes the integration of curriculum, resources, and teaching strategies to ensure the success of all students as the effective creators and users of ideas and information, enabling them to become lifelong learners.

Aspect 2: The Social System

 

Describe the interpersonal structure of the instructional experience. It describes the degree of cooperation required among students and the nature of that cooperation.

This project involves collaboration and problem-solving among a diverse group in the creation of the Celebrating Dr. Seuss’ Birthday and Reading Awareness Project. A high degree of cooperation among the Librarians and Teachers will be crucial for the success of this project.

 

 

Aspect 3: The Role of the Instructor

 

Describe the general instructional role. For example, will you or the instructor present material, guide students as they research their own issues, etc?   

 

The Librarian and Teachers will be partners in the creation, implementation and success of the project. They will brainstorm, research, plan, create, and implement their project. They will also reflect on their project and the other projects with a follow-up "Reflection Session".

 

 

Aspect 4: The Support System

 

Describe the types and amount of instructional, technical, and other resource support required for the instruction (e.g., instructional materials, communication capabilities, assistive technologies).

 

Dr. Seuss books and materials will be provided including handouts, project ideas and successful reading awareness campaigns. A rubric will be provide with expections for a successful project.

Collaboration Techniques and Tips will be provided with resource tools and reading materials.

Technology tools and resources will be provided if possible and if needed.

Assistive technologies will be used and alternative activities will be developed for diverse learners.
