From Pam:
I will tell you what I am planning on doing.
I still have to check with my tech coordinate for the district but we are starting to use a
district wide lesson plan program. I have been playing with but I think I am the only one that has.
I want to teach the intro class to the department heads. I just hope we can get it in before this
class is over. We don't have any more early release days. I will get a layout of the lesson and
send to you later. I hope I can get to my email while I am gone.
From Mike:
Is that program called CSAS? If so, we are starting to use it as well.
We won't actually be utilizing campus wide until next fall.
From Pam:
No, ours is part of the Lynx program. It is the same program that does our grades and attendance.
It is not going to be the easiest thing in the world to teach because there are so many steps involved.
I am going to have to make "cheat" sheets for everybody. I think it will be good in the end because
we can pull from year to year.
Here are some more details about my lesson.
Subject: Lesson Plans on the Lynx program (Intro)
Audience: Department heads
Length: 60 minutes
Hand outs needed: Step-by-Step on how to get started
A what-if sheet for possible problems
From Mike:
I feel like I am always apologizing to you. I am sorry for not getting back with you.
Here are the details for my lesson so far:
I will be working with a 2nd - 4th grade teacher that will be teaching her Social Studies students
a lesson that they will be using as their assessment a power point presentation that they will create.
They will be working in cooperative groups.
This lesson will be modified for te 3 different grades. It will also be modified for some special needs
students that she works with.
They will be researching their basic geneologies and timelines.
They will be asking their parents what countries their grandparents came from.
They will then use that information and research those countries as far as location, language, money used, etc.
They will also construct a timeline of their lives to integrate into the presentation.
I hope you get this info in time.
From Mike:
What are your specific objectives in the lesson?
What will you need (besides hand-outs) i.e. Computer, software, etc.?
Your target audience is adults this time, right? How will you address their different learning styles?
(The last time I worked with teachers, I had my worst experience because there were a few that slowed the
whole class down due to the fact that they had to be shown how to use a floppy drive and how to save - kid you not!)
That is all for now. If I think of some more I will send later.
From Pam:
What are your specific objectives in the lesson?
I will be teaching them how to use our new online Lesson Plan system.
What will you need (besides hand-outs) i.e. Computer, software, etc.?
We will need the software loaded and a computer for each teacher.
Some of them have a laptop with the software already loaded so that will make it easier.
Your target audience is adults this time, right? How will you address their different learning styles?
I will probably treat them just like I do my kids. Give the overall instruction and then monitor the class
for help and answer questions. The biggest problem with this software is that it is so picky.
If you do one thing wrong it takes an act of congress to fix it.
