Questioning

Student work stations with Network connections.

PhotoDraw software.

InFocus machine to guide exploration of software.

Art concepts/vocabulary.

Illustrate (1) finding shapes/graphics and (2) inserting shapes/graphics on page.

Lab times. Insure lab is available. Insure all computers are working.

Reliability of computer--if computers are down, lap-tops are available.

Possible difficulties with InFocus. Insure user can use the troubleshoot InFocus.

Possible difficulties with identifying specific criteria.

Match
2. Explore PhotoDraw software to see what features illustrate basic design elements of Art—line, shape, form, texture, value, & color.

Demonstration
Guided Practice

Questioning

PhotoDraw software..check student workstations to insure network connectivity.

InFocus to guide exploration. Insure working. Insure visibility.

Illustrate location of shapes/designs that match criteria.

Art vocabulary and concepts are essential.

All students have access to computers with PhotoDraw software and network connectivity.

Insure visibility  and use of InFocus to guide software exploration.

Possible difficulties in transferring knowledge from pen/paper to visual images.

Match
3. Use PhotoDraw software to create and save the following: (1) 1 design w/premade shape; (2) 1 original design w/freehand selection; (3) 1 original design in bl/white & (4) original design of choice.

Individual Project

Guided Instruction

Student work stations with network connection and PhotoDraw software.

Hardware/network saving capabilities.

Insure computer network connections so students can save to network. Some students save improperly (to hard drive). This is erased because of DeepFreeze program (caution).

Must make transition from hand drawn to visual images (identification).

Match
4. Using PhotoDraw software, apply basic design elements to 4 created shapes.

Observation

Computer workstations with PhotoDraw software and network connections.

Color Printer (network), toner, paper.

Saving is a problem is end product is not originally on or transferred to network.

Insure print on correct printer--color.

Transfer of knowledge--to identify and apply concepts.

Match
Teacher/Mentor Goals:
5. Create a working relationship between mentor and teacher to assist in technology integration and all phases of lesson.

Discussion
Collaboration

Art concepts, Computer, PhotoDraw software, Software Help, Network Connection Insure understanding of concepts/terms to illustrate. Discuss software elements that apply. Match
6. Create a lesson that integrates technology & art—utilizing PhotoDraw software (technology) to illustrate basic design elements of Art (subject area).

Scanner, Computer, Network

Transfer of knowledge could be problem. However, visualization should assist.

Plan to offer additional work to those who complete other 4 assignments.

Troubleshoot possible classroom management problems such as "off-task" behavior. Identify types...make suggestions.
