Instructional Technologies.

Learning Goals

Instructional and Learning Strategies

Target Technologies or Desired Tool Functions
Constraints Identified from Instructional Analysis
Decisions

Student Goals:
Set-up experiment equipment...tools and computer.

Group Project, Demonstration, Guided Instruction

Lap Top Computer with Logger Pro Software loaded.

Printer connected to computer.

InFocus machine to display collection of data.

Screen for InFocus machine.

Experiment devices such as Motion Detector, carts, magnets, velcro, weights, yard sticks,

Plugs and room for connections. Ensure that all chords reach desired location.

Reliability of computer itself. Know other machines that have software loaded.

Printer not working correctly. Make sure it is.

Difficulty in connecting InFocus. Ensure handler knows how to use.

Visibility is low if not magnified. Magnify for use of special learners, also.

Motion Detector often catches "noise" from room and participants. Use noise reduction methods such as setting the detectors in a upright position to alleviate this problem.

Match
Conduct collision experiments to collect sets of data.

Group Project, Guided Instruction, Questioning

Logger Pro software Experiment group has access to computer with Logger Pro software. Must read graph to insure that the experiment is working and the correct type of data is being recorded. This mainly revolves around the Motion Detector. But can also entail choosing the "correct" experiment from available list. Teacher must know desired results to utilize software correctly.

Illustrate the correct type of graph (InFocus projection).

Match

Create and print a chart that shows exact data points to be used for calculations.

Guided Instruction, Manipulation of software, Guided Instruction

Computer with Logger Pro software.

Printer, Computer paper, ink cartridges

All students have access to data through use of InFocus (insure connectivity and visibility of projection device--magnified projection needed to insure that ALL learners can identify data sets.)

All students know how to manipulate data points to identify specific points on graph.

Print specific data sets so that all students will be able to keep for studying. Printer sometimes does not work...make sure that another one that has software loaded on the lap top is available (library collection) and check ink supply and paper supply (all available in library).

Match
Calculations to determine set values

Learning by doing, Demonstration

paper and pencil

Calculators

Pencil sharpener/note paper

Some students might not have calculator. Must make sure that check those out from Math department (across the hall).

Match
Reflection

Guided Practice

Pen and Paper Pencil Sharpener/note paper Match
Teacher/Mentor Goals:

Create a lesson that is cross curricular in nature and focused on technology.

Discussion, Questioning

Textbook, Lab book, Software book

Difficulty in finding correct experiment. Lab book and software book didn't always "match". However, we overcame this with more experimenting and manipulating of software.

Match

Establish and maintain a working relationship with teacher.

Demonstration, Guided Practice

Lab book,
Software book,
computer with Logger Pro software, Experiment peripherals
Complete experiment often enough to insure teacher's security with using the system. Troubleshoot difficulty with each and every part of experiment. Match
Adjust lesson to encompass gifted and learning disabled students.

Discussion, Demonstration

Logger Pro Software

InFocus machine

Must illustrate to students how to find advanced data points. Match
Mentor's Goals:

Direct a coworker in integrating technology.

Logger Pro software, InFocus Machine, experiment material

Inability to identify correct software experiment. Inability to get experiment peripherals to work correctly.
