Good morning,

I am listing three questions that I intend to ask my mentee upon our first meeting.

1.  You mentioned having your Kindergarteners do a PowerPoint, can you explain what it will look like?

2.   What prior knowledge will your students need to complete the project?

3.  Does this project include any K-8 Tech App requirements?

Just send me yours when you have them.

Thanks!

Courtney

Hi Courtney:

Am I suppose to comment on your questions? I still don't understand this process. I thought I did last night, but now I'm confused again!!!

My 3 questions are:

1). Mr. Amaya, you mentioned you want to use the school's SmartBoard in your classroom for a math lesson on place value. After watching the video clips, do you feel you can easily set up and use the board?

2. How do you plan to give instructions to your ESL, your bilingual, and your regular students so each level of students will feel comfortable using the board, i.e., will you try to use video clips or some other method?

3. Do you think this is the best tool for your resource students to use or are you considering other ways to teach a lesson on place value to them?

Thanks,

Lee

Hi Lee:

I really don't know if I did this right.  I think I am just suppose to coach you on getting more information from your mentee and you do the same thing to my questions.  Let me know if I way off basis.

Hi Courtney:

1.  You mentioned having your Kindergarteners do a PowerPoint, can you explain what it will look like?

            Excellent question as is.

2.   What prior knowledge will your students need to complete the project?

             Very specific, no clarification.

 3.  Does this project include any K-8 Tech App requirements?

I think the question is fine. If I were to clarify it, I would say something like, "Of the K-8 Tech App TEKS, which one or two do you think would best represent what your students need to learn with this project."

One of the readings I did stated our goals and questions shouldn't be on what we need to cover, but should focus more on what the students need to learn. It seems to be just a rephrasing of the idea and either way gets us there. I'm trying to mimic more of the questions so that I can feel more confident about this course.

Let me know if this works for you and I apologize for not getting these to you last night. I read the Module Syllabus over and over today and I get so confused about whether I'm the mentor, coach, teacher, mentee - which part am I playing? Thank you for your help on this.

Also, I never have been able to download the webpage, add my name, and then upload it again. I don't know what my problem is, but I have SBC Yahoo and in the MTTC Pre-Prep, I was always having problems with uploading, etc., and Microsoft Front Page wouldn't work for me. If you have any ideas, I would appreciate them.

 Thanks,

Lee

Hi Lee,

Yes, you respond to mine in a cognitive coaching fashion.  I will respond to yours now. I'm listing your question and adding my comment in red.

1). Mr. Amaya, you mentioned you want to use the school's SmartBoard in your classroom for a math lesson on place value. After watching the video clips, do you feel you can easily set up and use the board?

Nothing to Clarify.

 2. How do you plan to give instructions to your ESL, your bilingual, and your regular students so each level of students will feel comfortable using the board, i.e., will you try to use video clips or some other method?

What do you invision yourself presenting to your students when you begin your lesson.

 3. Do you think this is the best tool for your resource students to use or are you considering other ways to teach a lesson on place value to them?

Explain your thinking for designing this lesson for the smartboard.

I'm trying to mimic more of the questions so that I can feel more confident about this course. I think that is a great idea!  I am going to try and do that as well.  I think it would be easier for me to help you with the html page over the phone.  I am busy tonight but would love to help tomorrow night after 7.  Would that work for you?  If so, just give me a call and we can work through it on the phone.

Good Luck!

Courtney

Yes, tomorrow night is fine - I'll work on it myself - there has to be a solution. I assume you were able to add your name to your homepage ok.

Talk to you Thursday night and thanks.
