This assignment was inspired by our staff, who suggested we send something to the troops in Iraq. I started taking video of our students and it "bloomed" from there. This is only a two-minutes production, but the one I'm going to send to Iraq is much larger. It was fun getting the students involved and their only real problem with the video is my choice of Dolly Parton as the backgrond music. I'll probably change the background music to Creed or something else when I make it again. It contains clips from the war and also video footage of our students and staff saying Thank-You's to the troops.

Description:
In this assignment we were to create a maximum of 2-minutes of video and combine it with one particular song by an indiviual or a group. The website was to be designed to focus on this person or persons and their music. It was supposed to convey a specific meaning. Your were to look at camera angles and all sorts of lighting hypotheticals.
Rationale:
This assignment was designed to bring together all the things that we learned throughout the video course together. It was supposed to show a positive grasp of the software. I chose this particular video topic because I thought it was very current and a good way to get our message from the students to Iraq. I believe in many ways it can be timeless because it sort of captures what we were feeling at the time. It gives you a sense of what we were seeing at the time as far as the media is concerned and what the students and staff were feeling.
Implications for future:
This has been a great assignment because we started a video yearbook this year and it's really helped me understand what things we might run into. While I was working on the video, I noticed how many different people came over to see what I was doing. People love visual messages that move. It really inspired me to try to teach a video class of some kind. It's not the easiest class to teach, but I think it will make an impact for students who may not be as interested in a graphics class or a web class. You can really personalize it so much more. You can add your music and a part of you to the production.
