Informed Decision Making

Use technology-related terms, concepts, data input strategies, and ethical practices to make informed decisions about current technologies and their applications.

Reflection

Because there are a variety of mediums used for this course, I had to decided which ones (mainly software) that I could use. After I analyzed that information, then I had to decided which programs my students could handle. Sometimes there was a dilemma in this area. For example, Microsoft Publisher is a relatively easy program to use, but in the graphics industry it is null and void. Pagemaker or Quark are more realistic choices if you want students to succeed. The programs are extremely different in their skill levels, but if you approach it in the right way kids can learn it. I had to make these same choices about web building software and video production software.

For this assignment, we were asked to compare two types of sofware used for web building. I chose Dreamweaver and Adobe GoLive. I compared costs and performance to decide the best route for myself and my students. This is a basic side by side analysis of the two programs, their costs and performance.

Dreamweaver vs. Adobe GoLive

Media:

Microsoft Word

Description:

This is a research document used to determine which web building software is the most powerful and affordable. With licenses these days cost is a major factor. Ease of use is probably the most important factor when kids are considered.

Rationale:
This was an assignment that I could use to give info to the administration. We must upgrade and use what kids will enjoy and will be able to do creative things with.

Implications for future:
Research of this nature is extremely good for purchasing. With all the media buzz out there we sometimes choose what we see the most over what is really what we need.

Reviewers Comments:

You found really inexpensive pricing. My prices were well into $300 and $400. Good Research.
