8/98 to present                                    Iowa Park High School, Iowa Park, Texas

Yearbook Adviser, Newspaper Adviser, Desktop Publishing teacher, Video Yearbook adviser and photojournalism instructor. UIL sponsor including news, feature, headline and editorial writing.

 

Currently completing 5th year as adviser for Iowa Park HS. We sell @ 425 books and do eight, 16-page tabloid newspapers each year. Also started a video yearbook this year. All yearbooks, newspapers and desktop classes use the Adobe family of Pagemaker, Photoshop and Illustrator to complete pages. Currently in a beta project with Taylor Publishing Company to send all yearbook pages via e-mail in PDF form. Also taught senior and freshman English in 1998-99.

 

HIGHLIGHTS                            In 1999, the Hawk (yearbook ) was named Class 1-A through 3-A State Champion Yearbook by the Texas High School Press Association (THSPA). Over the past few years, students from both the yearbook and newspaper have won over 24 individual achievement awards from the Interscholastic Press Conference, and THSPA. Have taken four students to Austin for UIL events and 16 have qualified for regional competition. Also complete various desktop publishing tasks for on and off-campus administrators (i.e. school calendar, promo brochures, etc.)

Yearbook Adviser and taught four sections of freshman English. Also was UIL sponsor for four journalism events. Left HHS to pursue other interests in graphic design at an agency and Wichita Falls Times Record News

Spent four years at MOJO in a capacity that served over 2200 students. Completed 224-page yearbooks and 10 newspapers yearly. Had a complete darkroom and produced large number of brochures, newsletters and promo material for Ector County ISD.

 

Twenty two students qualified for regional competition in feature, headline, newswriting and editorial. Two students qualified for state competition.
