Instruction that Incorporates Technology

Know how to plan, organize, deliver, and evaluate instruction for all students that incorporates the effective use of current technology for teaching and integrating the Technology Applications Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) into the curriculum.

Reflection
As a teacher, I have come to learn that I have more success with the incorpration of technology than any tried and true strategy. Having the skill and expertise to integrate technology has been a longtime goal for me as a teacher. This strand is one that I have focused on throughout the program because I have found everything that we have done has some type of application in my classroom. The technology-rich activities and projects were a joy and a true learning experience for me. The one idea to remember is that technology is changign daily and I know that I want to stay abreast of the changes and new technologies so that my students can be prepared for a better tomorrow.

Artifact #5

Descriptors: Digital Graphics

Title: Digital Graphics Lesson

Course: Digital Graphics 101

Date Created: November 2002

Source: Individual Project

Media: Jasc PaintshopPro, Adobe Photoahop, Adobe GoLive

Description: A website was to be created to house a lesson plan for digital graphics. Since this course was Digital Graphics and Animation, each learner had to select their foucus for their lesson. For example, I chose to focus on digtal grpahic and to produce a lesson plan for a graphics lesson, but I also had to include an animation as my intro. It did not have to be a world wonder, but something to grab the audience's attention.

-Vocabulary
-Sample of Finish Product for the lesson
-Lecture Notes/Handouts
-Step-by-Step Instructions
-A Credits Page
-Vocabulary and Lecture Notes/Handouts Documents (Universal Format)

Rationale: I have would have like to have chosen this artifact as one of my best works, but it ran a close third to my work in multimedia. I thinks it exhibits tremendous growth for me in the use of digital grpahics and animation. I had the most wonderful experience in enhancing my skills in the use of two different software programs and even managed to incorporate the animations and other bells and whistles. I also have something that I can use immediately in my teaching. The lesson is based on a technique I learned to use while creating a web page for another course. When the opportunity came along I was able to showcase my skills through creatingn a lesson based on the technique of creating a clipping group within Photoshop.

Implications for future: To date, I have used the Photoshop techniques highlighted in my lesson in several presentations where I recieved rave reviews. It really feels good to know that your audience is captivated by your work. I attempted to show my seventh grade students how to create a clipping group, but it was not such a success. This is a skill that may better be serviced and appreciated on the high school level with more advanced students.
