Communicate Information
Communicate information in different formats and for diverse audiences.
Reflection
Have you ever tried to access a file or page using your computer or the Internet and recieved an error message or a plugin prompt? If so, this is exactly the place for you. Throughout TATC I have had so many ups and downs, but one thing I learned from the beginning is to make sure your projects and submissions are easily accessible for a wide audience. This makes your life so much easier and your viewers are quite happy. I had never really considered this issue before because I took for granted that everyone used the same software and programs as I, but thatis not necessarily true in every case. I also relaized that you must definitely address the appropriate audience in the most acceptable form or manner to meet the needs of that audience. If this is not done early on, your work becomes twice as difficult andyou have lost your audience.

Descriptors: Course Outline, Course Publication, Desktop Publishing
Title: Desktop Publishing Course Publication
Course: Extended Desktop Publishing 204
Date Created: May 2003
Source: Individual Project
Media: Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Photoshop, MS Publisher 2000
Description: For this assignment a course publication had to be created for your very own Desktop Publishing Course which included a graphic theme or logo to be applied thorought publication, cover page, table of contents, course outline/scope/sequence, calendar, links/resources, and one additonal section of your choice. All components had to be combined into one complete publication instead of individual documents. Since this was Extended DTP, a web page was not solely acceptabe. DTP publication formats were acceptable such as brochures, booklets, etc.
Rationale: Although I did not label this as one of my bets works, I think it really stands and shows my growth in the area of Desktop Publishing. It not only took the right software realtionships, but techno savvy to pull this publication together. Having so many components made this a bit difficult, but overall I made it through the storm. Desktop Publishing is vital in any TA program, in my opinion. Students must know the acceptable practices and techniques. This has so muc real-world application. It is something that makes my life easier in the classroom because it can be distributed in several formats and it is easily accesible if placed online.
Implications for future: Now that I have a basic template, I would like to create a course publication for each of my subjects. I think it would serve many purposes and you never run out of copies if it placed on the web. I think this a component ths\at we a s teachers of technology should have ready and available to students and their parents. I know that it would answer many questions and start the year out successfully.
Reviewers Comments: "Your publication was worth the wait. It was very eye appealing. I really liked the color scheme. Your grapics went along with your color scheme and added greatly to the whole project. You did a very professional job. This is someting to be proud of and you should want to show it off to whomever would look at it. "
