Task Appropriate Tools in Problem-Solving

Use task-appropriate tools to synthesize knowledge, create and modify solutions, and evaluate results in a way that supports the work of individuals and groups in problem-solving situations.

Reflection
In any given group situation, all participants must rise to the occassion. Through group exerpiences, I have gained so much insight and clarification on many topics. Again, this relates directly to having a support network readily available. Through numerous group activities, myself and other members were able to create, produce, and submit some of the most intriguing projects all through teamwork and collaboration. We used the knowledge gained from all aspects of the learning experience to work towards a common goal. As a result, our problem skills were not only enhanced, but we built upon each other's strengths to perservere.

Artifact #3

Descriptors: Multimedia, Impact Report

Title: Impact of Multimedia on Society : Impact Report

Course: Foundations 100

Date Created: August 2002

Source: Group Project

Media: MS Word 2000

Description: The main goal of this assignment was to form a group or company in order to compile information on one of the TA subjects and analyze its impact on society through reaserch, interviews, and personal observation. The report would then serve as a resource for others. The following basic requirements had to be included:

1) Brief introducion of th TA subject
2)Brief hisotry of the impact TA subject has had
3) Two or more references listed by each company member (excluding group leader)

The final product coudl have been presented in any format based on the group's concensus. Each resource from group members were to be compiled and referneces to the group made on the specified web resource page.

Rationale: This was one of my initial opportunites to work with a group within the onlne community and it worked really well. Many of my group members participated in the same VisionIT sessions, so it made it a bit more comfortable to work having worked with these individuals before. This opportunity provided a general scope on Multimedia and its impact on society. It was the TA subject of choice amongst my group because the majority of us taught middle school students and all of the TA subjects tied together here.

Implications for future: It really provides perspective to understand how technology is constantly changing. I never looked at the major impact had on our society. I basically took it for granted. Everyone thinks of music and that is it, but there is so much more to multimedia and this is something I would like to defintitely address to my students and to teachers. Multimedia has no limits and that is just what I would like to coney to all.
