Digital Graphics/Animation
The digital graphics/animation teacher has the knowledge and skills
needed to teach the Foundations, Information Acquisition, Work in
Solving Problems, Communication strands of the Technology Applications
Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) in digital graphics/animation,
in addition to the content described in Technology Applications
Standards I-V.
Reflection on this Standard:
I came to TATC having taught digital graphics and animation and
thought I had a really sound background in this area. However, I
learned a lot from "Connie the art teacher" about how
to apply design principles to make visual products more appealing
to the audience. I also learned how to use Flash and Live Motion
to make really cool animations for the web - and shared activites
learned in TATC with my high school classes.

Title: Photo Collage
Course: Digital Graphics
Date Created: June 20, 2003
Source: Original Collage, Photographs courtesy of Davis
Studios, Denton, TX - www.davis-studio.net
Media: Paint Shop Pro 8.0, Internet Explorer
Description:
The purpose of this project was to create a photo collage of a collection
of photographs with attention given to the principles of graphic
design. The subject that I chose for this project was my daughter,
Kaitlyn, and her spring dance recital. The organization was chosen
to communicate the different forms of dance that she participates
in in a way that is visually interesting with depth and balance.
Varying levels of opacity, gradiations of scale, and a diagonal
placement were used to help give an illusion of depth and dimension.
Finally, the image was optimized for web publication.
Rationale:
I chose to include this project because it demonstrates a wide variety
of digital graphics elements. It demonstrates graphic design, layering,
photo optimization, text design, layout, 3-dimension effects, graphic
design filters, color balance, mirroring, and scale.
Implications for future:
This activity represents a variety of essential graphic design skills
that I will use in future projects in my job and in personal activities
for my family. It will also be an activity that I may incorporate
into future professional development workshops that I teach in Photoshop
and Paint Shop Pro.
Reviewers Comments:
How cool! Thanks mom! Can you print this out for my room? Can I
show Miss Lisa?
