Standards III
Task Appropriate Tools in Problem-Solving
Use task-appropriate tools to synthesize knowledge, create and
modify solutions, and evaluate results in a way that supports the
work of individuals and groups in problem-solving situations.
Reflection on this Standard:
As in any task, the key is learning to choose the best tool for
the job. There may be more than one way to "skin a cat"
but knowing the best way - or the best tool to use - produces much
better results. With technology applications, there is often many
ways to accomplish a single task. However, in learning the strengths
and weaknesses of the different tools, as we have in several of
the software comparison activities and evaluation discussions, I
have become much more effective and efficient in solving problems
with technology applications.

Description:
This web site has been created to provide information and technical
support to the users of digital video resources across Region XI.
It was also designed to market products and training services that
I offer to districts in our region. As such, it has been designed
as a solution to solve a variety of problems and uses a variety
of tools to form that solution, depending on the most appropriate
tool for each task.
Rationale:
I chose to include this project to demonstrate this standard because
it combines so many different tools to address several different
goals and a widely varied audience.
Implications for future:
In the future, I expect digital media to become much more prevalent
in classrooms across the region and, as a result, my need to provide
support and information to those users much more important as well.
I plan to continue maintaining this web site and enhancing it as
new needs arise.
Reviewers Comments:
What a great web site - would you help me create one of my own?
