Communicate Information
Communicate information in different formats and for diverse audiences.
Through the Technology Applications courses I
have increased my ability to communicate to a
variety of audiences in many different formats. Technology Application is all about
communication. Desktop publication is the
written form of communication and as a teacher
or student we use DTP is some form everyday.
We use different formats, such as; brochures,
booklets, handouts, memos, study sheets, test,
surveys, web pages, etc., to present our
written communication. We touch our students,
parents, peers, administration and communities
with our publications. Web Mastery is another
form of communication that reaches an infinite
and diverse audience world wide. Through the
building of web pages we communicate ideas,
information, entertainment, education, and
resources. Multimedia is a visual,
written, and an audio form of communication.
When used in the school environment, it can be
used to place emphasis and help reinforce
important ideas and information to our students
and fellow teachers. It can be placed on
the Intranet as a resource for teachers and
students. When used in conjunction with
DTP, Video, and Web Mastery, Multimedia can have
an impact on a wide range of audiences.
Digital graphics is a visual form of
communication. With the correct use of
digital graphics a mood can be set, an idea can
be presented in a clearer form, or a visual
message can be sent to the viewer. In
combination with other TA subjects and their
different platforms and formats, Digital
Graphics enhances the presentations.

Title: Discussion3-Art
Critique Project
Course: 100 Foundations: Module
3-Introduction to the Elements and Principles of
Design
Date Created: August 21, 2002
Source: Individual project with
criteria from assignment
Media: Front Page, PowerPoint,
Internet Explorer, Microsoft Publisher,
Description: In this activity we were
to find one example for each of the five TA's
and analyze each example for it's effective use
of the elements and principles of design. It
could be an example we had made or an example we
found.
Requirements for the activity:
 | Description of the example: who, what,
when, where, and by whom the work was done |
 | Analysis: discover unique features of a
work of art |
 | Interpretation: determine how the artist
was influenced by the world in which he or she
lived and worked |
 | Judgment: make a decision about the works
importance, industrial age definitions of
terms and concepts |
 | Compare and contrast the rules of visual
composition such as "rules of thirds" and the
"Golden section/rectangle" with respect to
harmony and balance as well as discord and
drama |
 | Identify pictorial qualities in a design
such as shape and form, space and depth,
pattern and texture to create visual unity and
desired effects in designs |
 | Evaluating the fundamental concepts of a
design, including composition and lighting |
 | Identify quality in design, such as
consistency, alignment, repetition, and
proximity |
 | Respond to other classmate about their
selection and analysis of the products
|
Rationale: Although this was one of
the earliest activities we did, I included this
product as an example of Standard 4 because it
shows the use of all of the TAs to communicate
information. It also shows the use of a
combination of different formats to communicate
to an audience using graphical, written,
multimedia, video, and audio communication
techniques.
Implications for future: This type of
activity would be good for an introduction to
the TA courses. Students could do this at the
first of a TA course and then again towards the
end of the course to show their progress in
understanding the concepts and skills they have
acquired.
Reviewers Comments:
I thought your site was
super. The color choice was a very soothing,
relaxing background and the links were very well
organized. Our teachers just started using
Gradespeed this year, great PowerPoint idea!
