Web Mastering

The Web mastering teacher has the knowledge and skills needed to teach the Foundations, Information Acquisition, Work in Solving Problems, Communication strands of the Technology Applications Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) in Web mastering, in addition to the content described in Technology Applications Standards I-V.

Reflection:

Web Mastering is what I looked forward to more than anything else when I signed up for this course.  Never did I expect it to be such a challenge!  I want to be able to do certain areas of our district web site such as the administrative pages and am pleased that I am on my way to learning enough to do just that.  After taking the additional web training during the "break" I am much more comfortable with web pages and their components.  I realize there is still a lot to learn and fully intend to pursue any trainings available, including java script!  I think java script makes such a difference in the overall appearance of a page but it is extremely difficult.  I am looking forward to having the time to devote to web pages, both job related and on family related.  The ideas and motivation are there, now if the hours only were.

Course: Web Design 102 - 2

Date Created: October 1, 2002

Best Work:  I feel that this was another one of my "Best Work" projects.  I learned how to do a web site with multiple links and elements.  It taught organization for creating web sites as well as other projects.  I took what was learned on this project utilized it throughout the rest of the TATC experience.  Even though the review was not one of my top reviews, it also pushed me to build on this experience.

Description: This web site was created for a TATC project.  We were to design our own travel agency web site using either an imaginary or actual travel agency. I used pictures and information from a cruise our family took last year and had so much fun reminiscing. I added links to other cruise lines and additional pictures.

Rationale:  This project taught me how to actually create a web site with more than one page to it.  It also emphasized to me how important it is to have ample material to use for a site.

Implications for future:  Doing this site has given me the necessary confidence to pursue web mastering in depth.  I intend to use my new knowledge to assist with the district web site and, also, possibly do a personal site where our family can share pictures with each other since we all live in different parts of the state.

Reviewers Comments:  Overall I’d rate Sara’s page as good, but could have used a little more information and navigation.  It made me want more information about your cruises.  Looked like you had a blast on your cruise and made some memories of a lifetime!!
