| Animation | Tools are the equipment used to produce computer animation. The highly technical nature of the computers, networks and software in use by the computer animator necessitate exploration and comprehension. Developing a thorough understanding of the software and hardware will permit the 'tools' to become intuitive to the animator, and enhancing the creative processes.* | As animators
students will be faced with challenges demanding creativity and problem
solving skills. Strategies are used in this technology to
develop artistic and technical skills.
The process of creating computer animation is both an artistic and technical activity. |
The software required to teach animation is still relatively expensive and requires memory-rich machines. Storing the images also require a great deal of storage space which many schools do not have available. It also takes a lot of imagination and patience to piece everything together. |
| Audio
Audio is processed in a computer by converting the analog signal into a digital code using various techniques. |
Audio gives another form of educational instruction that can enhance presentations and projects done by students and/or faculty. | As the old adage goes, if a student sees, hears, and manipulates they will learn that much quicker. So with audio, they can hear what they are working with and manipulate it accordingly. | They are easy and increasingly inexpensive to produce, store, replicate and distribute; for some purposes digital media are now cheaper than the analog equivalent; however, they do not always provide the most appropriate or most cost-effective solution. Analog audio and video tape, or a closed-circuit video cable system are more suitable when delivery cannot benefit from the advantages of digital media.** |
| PowerPoint
Presentation software using current technology to create digital presentation material. How to for PowerPoint: http://www.actden.com/pp/ |
PowerPoint is often used for classroom presentations, lectures, student prepared projects, and administrative presentations. | PowerPoint adds visual to verbal and assists in so many students learning abilities. It also makes student projects more fun since they can design and present themselves. | The biggest limitation is being able to present so that all can see. Availability of projectors are often limited due to school funds. |

The How to for Power Point is an excellent web source. With something like this available I don't see any reason to reinvent the wheel! I would use this with any class I taught.
