Web Mastering
The Web mastering teacher has the knowledge and skills needed to teach the Foundations, Information Acquisition, Work in Solving Problems, Communication strands of the Technology Applications Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) in Web mastering, in addition to the content described in Technology Applications Standards I-V.
For TATC 102 Web Authoring, we were told to create at least a 3 page web site for a travel company detailing one of their destinations. We had a number of requirements including: demonstrating all 3 navigation schemes, a tone for the site, storyboard, company info, resources, etc.
I had some knowledge of working with web authoring prior to Vision IT and TATC classes, but I didn't really have a working knowledge of HTML or any industry standard program such as Adobe GoLive. I have always looked forward to learning the nitty-gritty concepts associated with it. I never realized how much I didn't know about web authoring until this couse. I had always noticed different ways in which you could navigate through websites, but I never knew there was an actual name for each style, and how deliberate the navigation system really is in a professional website. For the future, I want to improve my web design and layout abilities, and become more comfortable with the various navigation schemes. I look forward to being able to learn with my students when I start teaching this material.

Rationale: For TATC 102 Web Authoring, we were told to create at least a 3 page web site for a travel company detailing one of their destinations. We had a number of requirements including: demonstrating all 3 navigation schemes, a tone for the site, storyboard, company info, resources, etc. I used this as an artifact to demonstrate the web authoring standards because, even though it was a simple site, it showed that I had learned to hyperlink, demonstrate navigation schemes, input graphics compressed for web use, etc. I chose this project to represent the Standard XI artifact because I felt the main purpose was that of learning web design techniques, and it was the most in-depth web project to date. From this assignment, I learned about each of the navigation schemes, which I did not know before this assignment. I felt like I achieved a part of my personal and learning goals by applying the navigation schemes to make a more professional looking site.
Implications for future: I think this assignment is a great assignment, and I've already used a variation of it in my Web Mastery classes! The instructions were plain and simple, and the skills needed were basic yet very necessary. I was able to create a somewhat more professional looking site than before, however, I would like to get better and better at doing this. For my next achievement, I'd like to re-do some of my sites and add great navigation and animation. I'm looking foward to the following classes so that I may get more knowledge to achieve these goals.
Reviewers Comments: Your site was really easy to navigate around and I liked your pictures. They made me wish I was there right now!!! Great Job on this site! I really liked your Blue Sky Travel text and they way it animated!!!!
