About Breakaway Ministries:
Breakaway Ministries is a non-denominational, weekly Bible study at Texas A&M University. I became introduced to this group when my younger sister was attending school at A&M. Their mission is to give students an opportunity to meet Jesus Christ and grow in a relationship with Him. This is accomplished through praise and worship, hearing God's word, and Christian fellowship. While not affiliated with any one church, they encourage students' involvement in local Bible-believing churches and they desire to cooperate with these churches in ministry.
Breakaway Ministries History
Breakaway began in 1989 as a small group Bible study of twelve Texas A&M students. Since that time, they have seen God move in very visible ways, growing the ministry to reach over 4,000 students each week. Before arriving in its present home inside Reed Arena on Texas A&M's campus, they gradually moved from apartments, conference centers, school libraries, theaters, and other churches in the community. Many Aggies have come to know Jesus for the first time, while others, who have come to know Him as Savior, have now made Him Lord. They began a discipleship ministry geared for new Christians, and they look forward to continuing to impact the Texas A&M campus with the power of Jesus Christ.
Breakaway Beliefs:
The Bible:
They believe the scriptures of the Old and New Testament are God's written revelation to man and are inspired, authoritative, and without error in the original manuscripts.
One God
They believe there is one God existing coeternally and coequally in three distinct persons: the Father, Son, & Holy Spirit.
Jesus Christ
They believe in the full deity and humanity of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. According to the scriptures, He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, died on a cross as the substitutionary atonement for man's sin, rose bodily from the dead, ascended to heaven and one day will physically return to earth in power and glory for believers in Christ.
Holy Spirit
They believe in the deity and personality of the Holy Spirit who offers regeneration to unbelievers, indwells believers, and enables believers to live godly lives.
Salvation
They believe that man was created in the image of God, but because of sin, was alienated from God. Only by the grace of God, through faith in Jesus Christ alone can a person be restored to a right relationship with God and be assured of eternity in heaven with God.
