Every day teachers, administrators, and technology coordinators are looking for ways to integrate technology into the curriculum. The use of technology, often, consumes large amounts of hard drive space for graphics and video from the internet. This is often frustrating, and will lead to slow computers and poor performance. The limitations of today's technology are memory, speed, and storage space. Each of these is interrelated and will cause slow performance or limit the storage abilities of files and programs. Title: File Sizes and How to Reduce Them While Maintaining File Integrity Course: Digital Graphics 101 Date Created: October 13, 2002 Source: Technology Committee Mansfield ISD Media: Microsoft PowerPoint XP (PPS format) Description: . The presentation shows the vocabulary and need to understand compression for improving the storage capabilities for a computer. Throughout the presentation the Rule of Thirds is applied effectively. The presentation is also framed on the top and bottom of the presentation view to demonstrate the rules of thirds for the PowerPoint presentation as required in the assignment. Rationale: The vocabulary for this concept is so important, I added it to the Technology Competencies Check list for our teachers in Mansfield ISD. Knowledge leads to wisdom and the best usage of speed and storage will always improve the educational experience. Implications for future: Schools are using portfolios to establish the expectations for most technology courses. But storage and speed are very important to allow access to information. It only takes three computers to download mpeg or mp3 files on an average T1 to slow the entire network down or stop the Internet access for everyone else in the same building.
