Professional Goals

I seek to attain the following goals in my TATC Experience:

• Complete the TATC Program and receive TA Certification
• Learn as much as possible about each of the Technology Applications
• Become familiar with the content of the TEKS for Technology Applications
• Develop a solid background in my elective, Web Authoring
• Learn a variety of techniques to approach teaching the TAs
• Discover ways to use Technology Applications knowledge in "other" classes
• Explore a variety of resources for completing the TA TEKS
• Learn more about the online learning environment

My goals differ from many others in that I will probably never teach Technology Applications in a classroom.  My focus is more on Training & Support for teachers, whether they teach the TAs or not.  I want to have enough knowledge to provide quality support to those teacher who teach the TAs.  Additionally, I want to gain knowledge that can be passed on to "traditional" classroom teachers, so that they might use Technology Applications to make their own classrooms more effective.

I think these goals are attainable, but I've tried to make them dynamic, not static.  In other words, once I have achieved these goals, I will only have begun a process that will be ongoing as I pursue my own interests in technology.  Once I complete the TATC program, I imagine myself being "out in front" of teachers on a temporary basis, and my task will be to lead them toward me even as I continue forward on my own path.
